2020 Billboard Music Awards Nominations: Taylor Swift, BTS, Billie Eilish and more; Full Nominees List

The 2020 Billboard Music Awards nominees are finally here!

After the coronavirus pandemic forced organizers to delay the annual ceremony initially planned in April, the awards are now finally set to air on Wednesday, Oct. 14. Although the show is most likely to follow guidelines and not have a live audience, the 2020 BBMAs promise to celebrate the biggest and brightest stars in music on their special night.

“I’m thrilled to be back with my Billboard family”

It’s not exactly known how the 2020 ceremony will follow through, but one thing we know for sure, Kelly Clarkson will continue her hosting duties for the third year in a row. Clarkson, who’s coming off her first Daytime Emmy Award win for Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show, is beyond excited for the gig.

“I’m thrilled to be back with my Billboard family,” Kelly said in a statement back in Feb. 25, when she was first announced as host by Billboard. “I love being part of an event that celebrates our greatest artists and entertains our fans. This is a night of music that you won’t want to miss!,” she said at the time.

And If the Emmys, VMAs, and BET Awards are anything to go by, this year’s edition will surely see an entertaining mix of live and pre-recorded segments by some of the industry’s biggest names.

Who’s Battling it out for the Top Awards?

On Tuesday, two of the top categories, Top Artist and Top Billboard 200 Album, were announced live on the Today show.

Billboard followed up with the rest of the nominees on Billboard.com and Twitter throughout the morning.

BTS is vying for its second consecutive award for Top duo/group. If BTS wins again, they’ll become the first group or duo to win back-to-back awards in this category. Since another hugely popular boy band import, One Direction, in 2015-16.

Ariana Grande is also going for her second consecutive win for Top female artist. She will be competing against Taylor Swift, who won the award in 2013, 2015 and 2018. Other nominees in the category include Billie Eilish, Halsey and Lizzo.

As for the Top male artist award, 2018 winner, Ed Sheeran, is running against DaBaby, Khalid, Lil Nas X and Post Malone. If Sheeran were to win this year, he’d join Justin Bieber and Drake as the only two-time victors in this category since the show’s relaunch.

1234 6

The nominees for Top New Artist also boast some big stars, namely, DaBaby, Eilish, Lil Nas X, Lizzo and Roddy Rich. If Eilish or Lizzo were to win the award, they would become the first female artist to win in this category since Lorde in 2014.

This year’s Nominees and winners are based on fan interactions with music. Including album and digital song sales, streaming, radio airplay, touring and social engagement.
