BTS may even cross the 100 million mark really soon. However, with an extremely passionate fanbase, their new music video has over 96 million views on Youtube. Almost 2.2 million fans from around the world tuned into Big Hit Entertainment’s Youtube channel to witness its premiere.

Dynamite is their first song which is entirely in English and it was trending on no. 1 on YouTube globally within 12 hours of its debut. BTS has previously held the 24-hour views record several times, most recently with the April 2019 release of “Boy With Luv” featuring Halsey. The “Dynamite” vid was directed by Yong Seok Choi of production firm Lumpens, who also helmed “Boy With Luv.”

K-Pop sensation BTS revealed in an interview on Thursday that releasing their first entirely English language song wasn’t their initial plan. But for the sake of their fans, they decided to put out the new track as soon as possible amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The group has confirmed that the release of their new album will be later this year. However, there is no specific date as to when it should be released. “The release of ‘Dynamite’ wasn’t in our plans at all,” said RM at an online press conference. But when the band heard the song, they thought it was funny and exciting. It was a fun, cheery song that was not serious according to them.

“It just made us feel good when we heard it,” he explained. “We really wanted to share this energy with the fans as soon as possible”. RM said it was a new challenge for them. Due to the global pandemic, the band had to cancel several plans including a world tour. RM said that the pandemic has left them feeling powerless and frustrated. He explains that they have tried to channel the same energy into the new track. “We call this our own recharge project,” he continued.

While Jimin shared the same feeling, he said everyone in the world is going through tough times right now and nobody expected this. The band describes ‘Dynamite’ as a breakthrough to help them overcome the emptiness.

V noted only musical considerations when asked why they sang the song in English. “When we were recording the guide version, we felt the English version fit the melody a little bit better,” he explained. Suga also described the track as a cheery and fun vibe that sends the message of happiness through dance and music. He continued dedicating the song to all the people who feel like they’ve fallen down “while running a marathon”.

We are glad that they released a song for us when this year has been nothing but terrible to us. And for the fans who are eager for more of BTS can head to watch their documentary, “Break the Silence”. It is set to release on September 10. The documentary will be following the group on its stadium tour set.

BTS is also going to perform in the MTV Music Awards for the first time. RM said, “We really wanted to be on it. It’s our first try — we are nervous and also very excited”. While Suga said not being able to perform live has felt like they were running. He added that the group realized they really belonged to the stage. “Singing and dancing are really when BTS can be BTS,” he concludes.
