The “Bad Blood” between Taylor Swift and Katy Perry definitely looks like a thing of the past now. The pop stars publicly confirmed their friendship once again, after the “Cardigan” singer lovingly hand-embroidered a gift for Perry’s newborn daughter, Daisy Dove Bloom.
The “Smile” singer welcomed her first child, daughter Daisy Dove, last month with fiancé Orlando Bloom on Wednesday, August 26. Via UNICEF, for whom they serve as Goodwill Ambassadors. The ecstatic family of three have since received many flowers and presents from famous friends. However, Swift’s thoughtful gift definitely holds a special place in their hearts.
“Baby Bloom”
On Sunday, Perry revealed that Taylor Swift had sent her a hand-embroidered pink blanket for her newborn daughter, Daisy.
“Miss ???????? adores her hand embroidered blankie from miss @taylorswift ???????????? ,” she wrote on Instagram. Alongside the caption Perry posted a photo of the peach satin blanket, which had ‘Baby Bloom’ embroidered on the front. “Hope it’s one she drags around for years till it becomes an unrecognizable shred that she keeps in her pocket as a teenager ????♥️,” Perry added.
The precious blanket also came with a handwritten note from Taylor, dated May 3, which she has addressed to ‘Katy, Orlando and little one.’ Perry, proving to be a true friend, tagged the location on the post as ‘Stream Folklore’, encouraging fans to buy Taylor’s latest Album, which was recorded in the lockdown.
“We got to be an example of redemption for young girls”
Unless you have been living under a rock, fans of the singers will know of the very public and complicated relationship shared by Swift and Perry for years. In fact their fans came out better in their feud, as they got iconic hit songs out of it. Like Swift’s “Bad Blood,” and Perry’s “Swish Swish.” However, last June, the pair shocked their fans by reuniting in Swift’s “You Need to Calm Down” music video while wearing adorable cheeseburger and french fry costumes.
In a recent interview with Howard Stern on his SiriusXM show, Perry explained that she and Swift wanted to publicly put their differences aside and set “an example” for their younger fans.
“Gossip in life can take the elevator but the truth takes the stairs. It just takes time,” Perry mentioned making a point to note that their feud was largely exaggerated at the time. “What I’m so grateful for is we did get to make up publicly and got to be an example of redemption for young girls,” she told Stern at the time.
Olive Branches and Cookies
Last year, Taylor revealed on Heart Breakfast that it was Katy, who actually instigated their reunion.
At the time, the “Lover” hitmaker disclosed that the pair “reconnected” a while ago. “It started when she sent an olive branch, like an actual olive branch on the first day of my Reputation Stadium tour. And I was like, that is not only really cool and really sincere, the note but like, very clever with sending an actual olive branch.” Taylor continued by explaining that the gesture removed any tension and bad feeling from their argument and they decided to put their feud behind them.
Opening up more about the gesture the songstress explained, ‘It was like a beautiful wreath and you could hang it, it was really so great. And so that was when you know I think for both of us it was completely like there was no weird feelings.’
Almost a year after the olive branch surprise, Swift returned the gesture with a delicious looking plate of cookies to Katy. At the time, Perry shared a photo of the plate of cookies with the frosted phrase, “Peace at last” written alongside two icing peace signs. Swift was also tagged in the post, captioned, “feels good ???? @taylorswift.” Which meant that the two had officially buried their long overdue hatchet.
However, Swift isn’t the only famous celeb to send in gifts. The newborn baby’s arrival has been met with gifts from big names, including the likes of Ryan Seacrest, as well as Beyoncé, who congratulated the new parents with a stunning bouquet of white flowers. Perry’s American Idol co-judge, Lionel Richie, also sent over a cute unicorn bathrobe and champagne for the parents.
