WandaVision Just Solves A Mystery Modern Family Never Did

Modern Family had never revealed who its characters were being interviewed by, however, WandaVision could not let that happen.

The latest episode of WandaVision called, “Breaking the Fourth Wall” took on Modern Family and The Office’s mockumentary vibes. Wanda channeled Claire Dunphy played by Julie Bowen and various characters took turns with smirks at the camera.

Wanda had spent a lot of time baring her soul to a mysterious interviewer in a talking head. However, she got confused in one scene when the interviewer asked her a question. She told the interviewer that they are not supposed to talk. The interviewer had sounded like a man.

Although at the end of the episode, it was revealed that it was not a “him” after all. It was Agnes(All Along), played by Kathryn Hahn. The character revealed her identity as the witch Agatha Harkness via a theme song which is stuck on our heads ever since. She revealed she was behind sending the wrong Pietro to Westview and that she killed Sparky the dog.

It was also revealed that she was the interviewer getting Wanda and Vision to open up. The character seemed to have been starring in her own show, Agatha All Along. “Who’s been messing up everything? It’s been Agatha all along,” her catchy-as-hell theme song reveals. “And the pity is, it’s too late to fix anything now that everything has gone wrong.”

Inspired by Modern Family, the real show never revealed who was interviewing the characters as the Prichett-Dunphy clan sat down. Our theory is, it was Agatha all along.

“Agatha All Along”

The revelation of Agatha being behind all of it was not that big of a surprise as most fans had already joined the dots. Wanda had a very hard day as she was recovering from the chaos of the previous episode. This led to Agnes taking care of the twins leaving Wanda to take some time to herself.

Agatha was also the one who pulled Wanda away from Monica Rambeau, who is now a superhero. The character pulled Wanda knowing fully well that Monica would only help her which will ruin her plan. Monica successfully managed to get through the hex without turning into a TV character which enabled her to develop superpowers.

Rambeau tried her best to get Wanda to listen to her and get some help. However, Agnes had other plans as she pulled Wanda into her house. Wanda then went searching for the twins, Billy and Tommy, who according to Agnes were playing in the basement.

However, all she could find was a scary tree, a freaky-looking book, and a new eye color. In a post-credits scene (the first of the whole season), the super-powered Monica was about to head into Agnes’ basement until she was stopped by Pietro (Evan Peters).

Meanwhile, Vision is spotted with circus performer Darcy and restored her real-world memories. She informed him about his past and now he is trying to get home to his wife. Now when we look at the commercial of this episode, it was about an antidepressant called Nexus.

Meaning Of The ‘Nexus’ Ad

The commercial claimed the tablet will “anchor you back to reality, or a reality of your choice.” Nexus in the MCU hints at something very big and fun on its way or might already be here. According to Marvel wiki, the Nexus is a “cross-dimensional gateway which provides a pathway to any and all possible realities.”

It is a place where all realities intersect and there are also Nexus beings. And Wanda is a Nexus being which means she will be herself no matter what reality she is in. She will not change unlike her brother, Pietro who was straight out of the X-Men and not her brother she remembers from Age of Ultron.

A Nexus being has the ability to “affect the probability and thus the future, thereby altering the flow of the Universal Time Stream.” This could mean Westview is Nexus and the idea does not rule out more fake Pietros. It also doesn’t rule out the fan-favorite theory that this is Marvel’s introduction of the Fantastic Four.

Fans also hope that this will enable Chris Evans to show up as Johnny Storm. That is the character he played in Fantastic Four movies. However, it will also be exciting to see the internet’s idea for John Krasinki to show up as Reed Richards.

Two episodes remain in this season of WandaVision, and a big guest star (at the very least) is still on the way. New episodes arrive Fridays on Disney+.
