Swifties are in for the surprise of their lives! Taylor Swift has new music in store for her fans, but that’s not it. The singer-songwriter revealed on Thursday morning that she will be releasing her eighth-studio album, Folklore, at midnight.
The Grammy winner took to Instagram to announce the exciting news to her fans alongside a series of black and white photos of the singer in some enchanting woods.
“Most of the things I had planned this summer didn’t end up happening, but there is something I hadn’t planned on that DID happen,” Swift wrote. “And that thing is my 8th studio album, Folklore. Surprise ????.” The singer went on, “Tonight at midnight I’ll be releasing my entire brand new album of songs I’ve poured all of my whims, dreams, fears, and musings into. I wrote and recorded this in isolation but got to collaborate with some musical heroes of mine.”
Swift listed her fellow collaborators and co-writers on her latest album. Namely, Aaron Dressner, Bon Iver, William Bowery and Jack Antonoff. Engineers, Laura Sisk and Jon Low. Mixers, Serban Ghenea & Jon Low and Photographer, Beth Garrabant.
In her announcement post, Swift explained that she was inspired by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic to release Folklore as soon as it was ready. Without even overthinking it. “Before this year I probably would’ve overthought when to release this music at the ‘perfect’ time. But the times we’re living in keep reminding me that nothing is guaranteed,” Swift said.
“My gut is telling me that if you make something you love, you should just put it out into the world.” That’s the side of uncertainty I can get on board with,” she concluded her post. “Love you guys so much ♥️.”
In a follow-up post, Swift shared that her new album will be featuring 16 songs on the standard edition, including a bonus track, “The lakes.” The 16 songs on the Track list are listed below,
The singer also revealed that she will honor her eighth studio album by releasing “8 deluxe CD editions and 8 deluxe vinyl editions that are available for one week.” She added, “Each deluxe edition has unique covers, photos, and artwork,” Available exclusively at taylorswift.com.”
While we’re still recuperating from the singer’s surprises, she has made a third exciting announcement. In a recent post, The Lover singer revealed that a music video for one of her tracks, “cardigan,” will also be released on Friday.
“The music video for ‘cardigan‘ will premiere tonight, which I wrote/directed.” Apart from thanking her dream team, the singer also explained the safety measures she took to film the video. “The entire shoot was overseen by a medical inspector, everyone wore masks, stayed away from each other. I even did my own hair, makeup, and styling ????,” she wrote.
Folklore is Swift’s eight studio album, among, Taylor Swift (2006), Fearless (2008), Speak Now (2010), Red (2012), 1989 (2014), Reputation (2017). And Lover from last year in 2019.
