Swifties are in for the surprise of their lives! Taylor Swift has new music in store for her fans, but that’s not it. The singer-songwriter revealed on Thursday morning that she will be releasing her eighth-studio album, Folklore, at midnight.
“There is something I hadn’t planned on that DID happen”
The Grammy winner took to Instagram to announce the exciting news to her fans alongside a series of black and white photos of the singer in some enchanting woods.
“Most of the things I had planned this summer didn’t end up happening, but there is something I hadn’t planned on that DID happen,” Swift wrote. “And that thing is my 8th studio album, Folklore. Surprise 🤗.” The singer went on, “Tonight at midnight I’ll be releasing my entire brand new album of songs I’ve poured all of my whims, dreams, fears, and musings into. “If you make something you love, you should just put it out into the world”
In her announcement post, Swift explained that she was inspired by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic to release Folklore as soon as it was ready. Without even overthinking it. “Before this year I probably would’ve overthought when to release this music at the ‘perfect’ time. But the times we’re living in keep reminding me that nothing is guaranteed,” Swift said.
“My gut is telling me that if you make something you love, you should just put it out into the world.” That’s the side of uncertainty I can get on board with,” she concluded her post. “Love you guys so much ♥️.”
