WandaVision Director Confirms No Plans For Season 2…Yet

WandaVision director, Matt Shakman reveals future plans for the show ahead of its season finale. The director has confirmed that there are no plans as of now to have the second installment in place.

The show which was the first Marvel show to release as part of MCU’s Phase 4, has been a huge success since its debut. It was set after the events of Avengers: Endgame as the series sees beloved MCU characters, Wanda Maximoff, now Scarlet Witch, and Vision. The couple is seen living a happy married life in the town of Westview.

Every episode has taken place in a different era of classic American sitcoms as the show unfolded to reveal that Wanda has created this new reality to process her grief. The show has also brought back some of the beloved characters from the past. It brought back Darcy Lewis and Jimmy Woo as well as the shocking reveal of Evan Peters as Pietro Maximoff.

The finale will be airing this week and it is reportedly going to be the show’s longest episode. Fans are extremely thrilled and eager to find out what happens in the finale and what is the future of all the characters. Wanda has been confirmed to be appearing on the upcoming sequel of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Marvel has successfully kept Wanda’s role under wraps.

However, we do know that WandaVision is expected to lead into the film with many theories including one where Doctor Strange could still be appearing on the show. Kevin Feige recently commented that a second season is not necessarily out of the picture but like the movies, they are taking the shows one step at a time.

“We have no plans for WandaVision Season 2 at all..”

Matt spoke with Collider and revealed the possibility of a second season. He has shared that there are no plans for another season just yet. The director confirmed that while there might not be plans for season 2, this could change along the way. It will depend on the story ideas.

He said, “I love working at Marvel. It’s the best place in the world. They’re so great with filmmakers and I’ve had such a great journey with this show. We have no plans for WandaVision Season 2 at all — that could change, of course. It all depends on what’s the story. We were very focused on telling this story over nine episodes and hopefully coming to a conclusion that feels satisfying and also surprising.”

WandaVision has proved to be a huge hit for both Disney and Marvel even ranking as the most popular TV show in the world. According to a Parrot Analytics Survey, the show has been the most popular since airing its fifth episode. Even the songs seemed to have struck a chord with fans around the world. The catchy theme song introducing the villainous of the show, Agatha Harkness, called Agatha All Along became immensely popular. It became such a viral sensation that it led to a Spotify release and various remixes.

Since there are more shows that Marvel is going to be giving us this year, it is understandable that they are not focusing on the second season. The next show after WandaVision will be Falcon & the Winter Soldier and Loki. If there is another season for the hit show, it will need to make sense with a follow-up season.
