Vaani Kapoor’s character in Ranbir Kapoor’s Shamshera has “a lot of substance and charisma”

Vaani Kapoor, who plays the female protagonist in Ranbir Kapoor’s action-adventure Shamshera, says she is thrilled to get the opportunity to play a well-defined and appealing character in the film.

The Yash Raj Films film, directed by Karan Malhotra, is set in the 1800s and tells the narrative of a dacoit clan battling for their rights and independence from the British.

Shamshera’s premise, according to Vaani, 32, reminded her of Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit-1993 Nene’s blockbuster film Khalnayak. “Films like Khalanayak and a few others have influenced us since we were children. Shamshera provided me with a sense of that. The actor told PTI, “It’s a wonderful film and it’s very distinct.”

The 32-year-old actress, who co-starred with Hrithik Roshan in the 2019 action film War, said she prefers the genre as a performer and as a viewer.

Shamshera With Lot of Substance

Agneepath by Karan Malhotra is one of my favourite films. He understands how far each emotion should be pushed. It was frosting on the cake to be a part of a film like that and coming from a filmmaker like Karan,” she added.

Shamshera, which was unveiled in May 2018, stars Ranbir Kapoor, 38, in a previously unseen role. Vaani claims that her co-performance star’s in the film will surprise the audience.

Shamshera, which also stars Dutt, was set to hit theatres in July 2020 but was pushed back to June 25 this year owing to COVID-19. Following the second wave of the pandemic, the film’s release was once again postponed.

Aside from this film, Kapoor will be featured in Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui, starring Ayushmann Khurrana. Abhishek Kapoor’s romantic drama is described as a growing love story.

“I can’t wait for it to be released. I’m hoping it goes over well. It’s a fantastic love story. She described Ayushmann as a “excellent co-actor.”
