Tom Hiddleston’s break from his acting career came after a moment of consideration. The actor is just two months away from making a comeback on screen as his beloved character, Loki.
He told Empire that a few things crossed his path and he thought carefully about them. The British star said, “A few things crossed my path and I thought carefully about them, but they didn’t feel quite right, so I didn’t do them.” Time away from a film set allowed Tom to spend more time at home.
He appreciated that time as he shared that he had been playing so many different people in many different parts of the world. The actor explained that it is important to differentiate between what is real. He said, “I’d been playing so many different people in so many different parts of the world, and it’s very important to distinguish what’s real and in one’s own life, and look after those things.”
Tom further explained that if one does not look after those things, then they can be lost. He said that this was to avoid coming home one day and not really being there anymore. The Loki star related to a point that was shared by Tilda Swinton’s character, Eve. He was also a part of the vampire drama, Only Lovers Left Alive.
“She says life is about surviving things, appreciating nature, nurturing kindness and friendship, and dancing,” he said. “So perhaps, at the moment, I needed to come back and do it. I don’t know, to be honest, that I danced a lot. I should have danced more. But I’m sure there are some people who’d say I’ve danced far too much.”
Tom appeared last in 2019’s superhit venture, Avengers: Endgame. His character took off with the tesseract and disappeared. The Disney+ series will follow him as it will pick up where Endgame left off. Fans will get a chance to see where the character went after escaping from the Avengers.
The actor is set to appear in the Disney+ series What If…? and the miniseries The Essex Serpent. Loki begins streaming on Disney+ on June 11.
