Who doesn’t know Rubina Dilaik? Oops! We mean Soumya Singh from the Colors Tv Drama ‘Shakti – Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki.’ She is a household name from Indian Television.
Rubina Dilaik is an Indian actress and former fashion model. Most recently, Rubina made headlines with her grand victory in BiggBoss season 14 after a tough 143 days battle in the BiggBoss house. She was the audience’s favourite contestant in the show which led to her victory. Today, we have a look at Rubina Dilaik’s career journey throughout the years.
Early Life And IAS Aspirations
Rubina Dilaik was born on 26 August 1989 to a Hindi writer. Her father is an established author and has authored several Hindi books. Rubina was born in the northern state of Himachal Pradesh in the city of Shimla.
She completed her primary education at the Shimla Public School and attended St. Bede’s College afterward. Rubina was a bright student. Winning national-level debate competitions is one such sphere where Rubina excelled during her education days.
After completing her education, she decided to pursue a career in Indian Administrative Services and was adamant about giving her IAS exam. She had started preparing for her exam but fate had something radically different planned for this young child.
IAS Dream Ends; Rubina Crowned Miss North India
At the very tender age of 16, Rubina Dilaik had started to contest in beauty pageants and she also won two of those local pageants. The bigger breakthrough came when Rubina was crowned Miss Shimla in 2006. She was still a teenager at this time.
When she turned 20, she also won the Miss North India beauty contest which was held in Chandigarh. This was the moment when her dream of being an IAS officer was unintentionally put off.
Half a decade ago, in 2016, Rubina was ranked 11th out of 50 in the list of Sexiest Asian Women by Eastern Eye. She was seen in the Top 10 the following year.
Television Debut
Rubina Dilaik has now become a popular figure among Indian Television lovers but the humble beginnings of the actress date back to 2008, when she went for auditions for the first time in her life.
In Chandigarh, Rubina Dilaik auditioned for a role in the Zee TV drama ‘Chotti Bahu’ and got selected. She played the role of Radhika Shastri opposite Avinash Sachdev in the serial. The sequel of the show had Rubina in it too.
The after-math of Chotti Bahu was that Rubina had now become a household name. The Indian audience loved this new young girl who executed a tough role in a leading soap opera with absolute finesse. Rubina started getting more job offers in the Television industry.
Rubina Dilaik Becomes A TV Sensation
Rubina went on to appear in many Indian Television Dramas as the main lead thereafter. She played the role of Simran “Smiley” Gill in Sony TV’s Saas Bina Sasural. In Zee TV’s Punar Vivah – Ek Nayi Umeed, Rubina was seen opposite Karan Grover. She played the character of Divya Jakhotia.
Rubina signed a mythological series titled Devon Ke Dev .. Mahadev where she played a supporting role of Sita from 2013-14. In the Indian fantasy sitcom Jeannie Aur Juju, Rubina portrayed the role of Jeannie.
The mid-career pinnacle of success hit Rubina Dilaik when she starred as a trans-woman in Colors TV’s Shakti – Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki. She broke typical Indian stereotypes and misconceptions through her acting as Soumya Singh in the show. Shakti – Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki topped the TRP list for months.
Apart from peak glory and fan following, this show also fetched Rubina Dilaik the Best Personality Award at Colors’ Golden Petal Awards 2017 and Best Actress in ITA Awards 2017.

Rubina Dilaik has been seen in major Indian television shows, doing cameo appearances and guest roles. Banoo Main Teri Dulhan, Kasam Se, Saat Phere: Saloni Ka Safar, and Pavitra Rishta are a few of the big serials where Rubina was seen as a guest.
Furthermore, Rubina had cameo roles in four consecutive BiggBoss seasons: Bigg Boss 10, BiggBoss 11, Bigg Boss 12, and BiggBoss 13. She also had cameo roles in Ishq Mein Marjawan, Tu Aashiqui, Sasural Simar Ka, Savitri Devi College & Hospital.

BiggBoss 14 Winner: Rubina Dilaik
Rubina Dilaik showed the entire nation the natural side of her when she debuted in BiggBoss as a contestant in season 14. Rubina was not new to BiggBoss as she had previously visited the sets of Bigg Boss for four continuous years in cameo and guest appearances.
In her journey of over 100 days, Bigg Boss called out Rubina for bending house rules as per her terms, competing against Bigg Boss more than the contestants, and so on.
Rubina joined BiggBoss Season 14 with her husband Abhinav Shukla. The two tied the knot in 2016. During the show, Rubina revealed the troubles that began brewing in their marriage and how the relationship had hit rock bottom. Things were so exacerbated that the couple thought of getting divorced as a final resort.
However, fortunately, Rubina and Abhinav decided to give one last attempt at saving their relationship and as a result, joined the BiggBoss house together. Things turned out to be just as planned as she got back together with Abhinav. He also ended up proposing his lady love on the Valentine’s Day episode of BiggBoss 14.
At the beginning of the show, Rubina and Jasmin were inseparable. They bonded like sisters. However, things soon turned sour. Rubina defeated Rakhi Sawant, Aly Goni, Rahul Vaidya, and Nikki Tamboli in the grand finale.
Post-Bigg Boss
Rubina Dilaik was seen in a video song titled Marjaneya sung by Neha Kakkar. She starred alongside her real-life husband Abhinav Shukla. The two displayed their crackling chemistry in the song after leaving the BiggBoss house,
Rubina also featured in a song with her fellow co-contestant Paras Chhabra where she portrayed a betrayed wife. The song’s name is ‘Galat’ and is sung by Asees Kaur.
