Posters for Spider-Man: No Way Home make references to the Maguire and Garfield films

Two new posters for Spider-Man: No Way Home have been released, with hidden references to Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s respective Spider-Man films.

Marvel Studios and Sony are ramping up their advertising efforts for Spider-Man: No Way Home after a slow start to the campaign.

While a third trailer remains a possibility, new promo snippets and posters have been released on a regular basis, featuring new glimpses at the wall-crawler, Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange, and the many Spidey villains who will appear in the threequel.

After a brief dispute with Sony that nearly resulted in Spider-removal Man’s from the MCU, Marvel Studios will have access to the web-slinging hero for the foreseeable future. With the issue behind them, the studios are now focused on releasing their next collaboration, which will be directed by Jon Watts, who previously directed Spider-Man: Homecoming and Far From Home.

No Way Home is set to conclude Tom Holland’s Spider-Man trilogy, and it appears to be doing it in a huge way. The movie will feature the return of villains such as Doc Ock (Alfred Molina), Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe), and Electro (Jamie Foxx) from Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man franchise and Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man films, among others, due to its multiverse premise. The only question now is whether their individual Spider-Men will appear.

Despite persistent claims, there is no evidence that Garfield and Maguire will appear in Spider-Man: No Way Home. However, a pair of new international posters from Malaysia’s GSC moviehouse support the theory that they will be in the film, as the visuals appear to make subtle references to Spider-Man 2 and The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

Holland’s Peter Parker imitates Maguire’s pose in the character poster for Raimi’s 2004 film, as seen in the first poster. The second illustration, meanwhile, is reminiscent of Garfield’s poster for the 2015 film, in which he is perched on the side of the Oscorp building.

Take a look at the following each:

Many fans had high hopes that Garfield and Maguire’s presence in Spider-Man: No Way Home would finally be confirmed — either through a clear tease or an actual cameo from both of them — prior to the release of the second teaser. That, however, was not the case.

The focus was instead on the arrival of the villains from other universes, as well as Doctor Strange’s explanation of how the multiverse affects the plot of the film.

Following TV spots join forces, focusing on Peter’s personal journey rather than the much-anticipated return of Garfield and Maguire’s web-slingers. Regardless, fans believe that the other Spider-Men were simply cut out of the teaser to keep their involvement hidden.
