In a recent interview with Sunday Times, Matt shared the reason behind him using the homophobic slur. The actor explained that the word was commonly used when he was a kid with a different application. He also revealed that he used to use the slur until a few months ago and received a treatise from his daughter for it.
The actor said, “I made a joke, months ago, and got a treatise from my daughter. She left the table. I said, ‘Come on, that’s a joke! I say it in the movie ‘Stuck on You!’’ She went to her room and wrote a very long, beautiful treatise on how that word is dangerous. I said, ‘I retire the f-slur!’ I understood.
He also revealed that the changing form of journalism has enabled him to be more conscious. The 50-year-old revealed that it did not matter what he said before because it did not make the news. However, he claimed that shift might be a good thing so he will shut up more. But his confessions did not please the online community.
