Kelly Clarkson’s Estranged Husband Requests Child & Spousal Support

Kelly Clarkson’s split has become complicated day after day as Brandon Blackstock requests child and spousal support.

A source confirmed that Brandon is requesting $436,000 a month in child and spousal support. The former couple is going through their divorce currently as the amount of support was asked in court documents filed on Monday.

Kelly filed for divorce from her husband after 7 years of marriage and the singer won temporary primary physical custody of the couple’s two children. An insider has revealed how the ruling is not “a big deal” as the kids are in school in Los Angeles. The ruling was to make sure that the kids’ routine is not disrupted and to keep them in school.

The singer had opened up about her divorce in an interview with Glennon Doyle and Alicia Keys on her show, The Kelly Clarkson Show. She shared how horrible it is and that there are so many hard parts. However, she clarified the hardest part for her is the kids.

She continued, “You know, I always think as women especially we’re trained—Alicia and I were talking earlier—to take it all on, and you can deal with it and you’re fine. But it’s your babies that you worry about.” The singer had seemingly cited the reason for her split during another episode.

Kelly shared that she was grateful to have learned a lesson about herself in 2020. She revealed how she feels like she is always changing and progressing in a good way. “And I always want to make sure I’m being the best version of myself,” she added.

“Kelly is pouring everything she has into her work to stay busy & focused”

The singer had cited that she does not want her divorce to be any harder and hoped to keep it amicable. A source revealed that Kelly is hoping to have her ex, Brandon Blackstock and her to have an amicable split. The singer wants them to move forward with a positive experience as co-parents.

The former couple was married for seven years before filing for divorce four months ago. They share two kids, River, 6, and Remington, 4. Brandon already has two other kids from his previous relationship, Savannah and Seth.

The source also reveals Kelly is keeping herself busy even during these difficult times as she premieres the second season of her show, The Kelly Clarkson Show. “Kelly is focusing on her show, moving forward and her kids,” the source says. “Kelly is pouring everything she has into her work to stay busy and focused and is trying not to think too much about her divorce, which is hard at times.”

The singer opened up about her divorce multiple times however, kept the details under wraps because of her kids. In the season premiere for the second season of her show, she addressed her divorce, however, said the details would stay private.

After six whole months, Kelly is back with her show The Kelly Clarkson Show. A lot of things have happened in her life and in the world since she has left. The episode was the premiere for season two of her show and she opened up about the ‘dumpster’ year that is 2020.

“Divorce Is Never Easy”

She told her audience a lot of things have happened in 2020, a lot of changes have happened in her life. The host said she did not see it coming. The singer filed for divorce back in June from her husband of seven years, Brandon Blackstock.

Her divorce has come as a shock to fans as well as their friends and family. Kelly explained what she is going through is hard because it involves other little hearts and not just hers. She said, “We have four kids. And divorce is never easy. And we’re both from divorced families so we know the best thing here is to protect our children and their little hearts.”

The singer said she is usually very open about everything but in this case, she thinks its best to not go too far into it. She explained her decision saying she is a ‘mama bear’ and her kids come first.

Kelly assured her fans and viewers that she is okay because a lot of people have asked her that. She explained that she is using her songwriting skills as a coping mechanism, which has helped her since she is a kid. “My mom told me to start writing and that’s actually how I get my feelings out,” the 38-year-old said.
