UK Approves Pfizer-BioNTech COVID Vaccine For Mass Immunisation

The UK has become the first country in the world to adopt the Pfizer / BioNTech coronavirus vaccine for widespread use.

Mass Immunization

The British regulator, MHRA, says the jab, which contributes up to 95% of Covid-19 infections, is safe to be dispatched and used.

Vaccine usage and immunization can start in a few days for people in the main group.

The UK is already ordering 40m doses – enough to vaccinate 20m people, with two shots per person.

Estimates of 10m should be available soon, the first of which will arrive in the UK in the coming days.

It is the fastest vaccine from the mind to the true, it only takes ten months to follow the same developmental steps that usually take ten years.

Although vaccinations may begin, people still need to remain vigilant and follow the rules of coronavirus to prevent the spread, experts say.

That means sticking to social isolation, and testing people who may be infected and asking them to isolate themselves.

About The Vaccine

It is a new type called mRNA vaccine that uses a small piece of genetic code from the pandemic virus to teach the body how to fight Covid-19 and build up the immune system.

The mRNA vaccine has never been approved for use in humans before, although people have received it in clinical trials.

The vaccine should be stored at about 70C and will be transported in special boxes, packed in dry ice. Once sent, it can be stored for up to five days in the refrigerator.

Critical And High-Priority Patients

Experts have created a targeted list, targeting high-risk individuals. Top are local residents and staff, followed by people over the age of 80 and other health and social workers.

They will receive the first stock of the vaccine – some before Christmas. Major immunizations for everyone over the age of 50, as well as young people with existing health conditions, are possible as more shares become available by 2021. It is given as two injections, separated for 21 days, with the second dose being a stimulant.

Other Vaccine Candidates

There are other promising vaccines that may also be approved soon.

Someone from Moderna uses the same mRNA method as the Pfizer vaccine and offers the same protection. The UK has previously ordered 7m doses that would be ready for spring.

UK ordered 100m doses of Covid vaccine at Oxford University and AstraZeneca. That vaccine uses a harmless virus, which has been modified to look more like the virus that causes Covid-19.

Russia has been using another vaccine, called Sputnik, and Chinese military has approved another CanSino Biologics. Both work in the same way as the Oxford vaccine.
