IPL 2021 : These two RCB players will not be available for playoffs

Sri Lankan players Wanindu Hasaranga and Dushmantha Chameera have received the necessary No Objection Certificates from Sri Lanka Cricket(SLC). The duo will be available to play for RCB but only till October 10,that is until the first qualifier.

The 2021 edition of the IPL will resume on September 19 in the United Arab Emirates.

Royal Challengers Banglore(RCB) have performed brilliantly this year and are at No 3 in the IPL points table. They have 10 points in 7 games. It’s very clear that RCB is a strong contender for the championship this year. However, RCB will have to play without these two Sri Lankan stars Wanindu Hasaranga and Dushmantha Chameera if they qualify for the playoffs.

SLC has allowed Wanindu Hasaranga and Dushmantha Chameera to be a part of the IPL only till October 10, the date on which Qualifier 1 is scheduled to happen.

The two Sri Lankans must leave the RCB squad to appear for the warm-up matches of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 after October 10.

“The ‘No Objection Certificate’ to the duo was issued for them to join the IPL teams starting from 15th September (following the completion of the South Africa Tour of Sri Lanka). The two players will join the Sri Lanka squad on 10th October 2021 to play in the two warm-up games prior to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Qualifiers,” an official statement from SLC read.

Wanindu Hasaranga and Dushmantha Chameera can make their Debut

The Sri Lankan duo haven’t played a single match in IPL so far. Hasaranga received his first IPL contract this year. While Chameera was a part of the Rajasthan Royals(RR) squad in IPL 2018. However, the Sri Lankan pacer didn’t play a single match that year. So, the duo could make their debuts this year under Kohli’s captaincy.

Wanindu Hasaranga is a Right Hand Bat and Legbreak bowler and will serve RCB as an all-rounder in place of Adam Zampa while Dushmantha Chameera will fulfill the place of a Right Arm Fast bowler.

All eyes will be set on these two new overseas players as to how they perform on the field when given a chance since making it to the coveted team of RCB is a dream of many young cricketers. Given their recent form and fabulous performances, one can bet that they might even make it a dream debut. Though these players lack experience, the campaign of RCB will surely give them exposure and they might turn this opportunity into a golden performance.
