Who gets eliminated?
At the end of Tuesday’s episode, new host, Tyra Banks announced that Tiger King’s Carole Baskin and the veteran NBA player Charles Oakley had unfortunately found themselves with the lowest scores. Therefore placing them in the bottom two. It was now up to the judges to decide, which one of the couples was going to move forward in the competition.
After combining the scores from the premiere episode and night two, along with the live votes on Tuesday, Banks revealed all of the safe couples. Before revealing that Baskin, along with pro partner Pasha Pashkov, and Oakley, who was partnered with Emma Slater, were in danger of being eliminated.
“Again, it is going to be up to the judges to save one of these couples and keep them in the competition. If two of the judges are divided, the third will cast the deciding vote,” Banks explained. “It’s time for the judges’ verdict. Judges, you have to make your decisions based on both weeks of dancing so far,” she continued, before the trio made their decisions.
First to go, Judge Inaba chose to save Baskin. She was followed by Judge Tonioli, who split the vote by choosing to keep Oakley in the competition. Breaking the tie was Judge Hough, who decided, “the couple I’m going to save is Carole and Pasha,” sending Oakley and Slater home.
Surprises and Snubs
Meanwhile, Justina Machado and Kaitlyn Bristowe danced their way to the very top of the leaderboard. Kaitlyn, who despite having an ankle injury, performed exceptionally well, earning her the top spot on the leaderboard, with the highest score of the night. Chrishell Stause also showed remarkable improvement on her low premiere score. While, Skai Jackson slid to the middle of the pack from top of the leaderboard, after getting a significantly lower score compared to her debut dance.
Next week, the remaining 14 pairings will perform their third dances during the show’s Disney night. “Dancing with the Stars” airs Mondays, 8 p.m. ET, on ABC.
