Bella Poarch was officially a United States Navy Vet. She joined the US Navy in 2017. A quick glance at the older posts on her Instagram account highlights her Navy days. She served for four years after eventually leaving in 2020.

The exit from the US Navy marked the beginning of a new chapter in Bella’s life. This chapter was going to take her on a ride to the top of Internet charts among many popular names of the world.

Starting A TikTok Account

In the last month of 2020, Bella struck a deal with the international music label Warner Records. She released her debut single in May 2021 titled Build A B—h. Billboard labelled the music video of her debut single as “a comic slice of new-school pop”. The video featured many other well-known internet personalities Valkyrie, Mia Khalifa, and Bretman Rock. The song went on to feature in the Top 60 of US Charts, top 30 in the UK Album Chart, and was amongst the Top 25 in the Irish Singles charts.

In a podcast called The CouRage and Nadeshot Show, the 24-year-old TikToker revealed that her debut single was a glimpse of her experiences of being bullied as a child.

Bella Poarch has been nominated for the Global Creator at MTV Millennial Awards 2021.

Controversies

In a short career span, Bella Poarch got herself involved in many controversies online as well. Once she received a lot of judgment and criticism for calling her coloured friend ‘Harambe’, the gorilla, who was infamously killed in the Cincinnati Zoo back in 2016. Bella was labelled as racist by many users online. She later offered an explanation about the entire thing and came out clean.

She also received a lot of criticism for a tattoo that was similar to the Japanese Rising Sun Flag. The art was considered offensive by some Southeast and East Asians. In September 2020, Bella apologized and immediately had it covered.
