‘iCarly’ Revisits Influencer Culture in Revival Trailer
iCarly is back!!!! Paramount Plus released a trailer for the upcoming revival of the show. The revival will premiere on June 17.
After 10 years of the Nickelodeon show’s end, the new iCarly revolves around the original influencer, Carly Shay. It also includes her friends as they navigate work, love and family life. The trailer sees the characters go on dates, joke around in the revamped loft and restart their popular web series.
The actors who played Carly Shay, Spencer Shay and Freddie Benson are reprising their roles for the revival. It features Miranda Cosgrove, Jerry Trainor and Nathan Kress along with newcomers Laci Mosley, and Jaidyn Triplett. Laci will be portraying the role of Carly’s roommate and best friend, Harper while Jaidyn will be portraying the role of Freddie’s social-media-savvy stepdaughter Millicent.
The cast of iCarly was announced in May as they posted a video singing happy birthday to Miranda. She cut through the cake as she revealed a note that read, “iCarly Premieres June 17th on Paramount Plus”. Jennette McCurdy who originally plates Carly’s best friend, Sam Puckett will not be returning for the revival series. She recently announced her decision of quitting acting. Even Noah Munck who played the role of Gibby Gibson is unlikely to appear on the show based on the trailer.
The new “iCarly” is produced by Nickelodeon Studios and Awesomeness and executive produced by Jay Kogen and Ali Schouten, who also wrote the pilot. Cosgrove also serves as executive producer, with Trainor and Alissa Vradenburg serving as producers. The pilot was directed by executive producer Phill Lewis, who famously portrayed Mr Moseby on Disney Channel’s “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody.”
The first three episodes of the revival will premiere on June 17. It will be a 13-episode first season with subsequent episodes releasing weekly on the streaming platform.
