Eclipso, the show’s latest enemy, and his gem, the Heart of Darkness, are teased in a new Stargirl season 2 poster. The superhero adventures of Courtney Whitmore, a high school student who receives the Cosmic Staff, which originally belonged to the legendary Starman, are recounted in Stargirl. After a successful first season on DC Universe and The CW, the show was renewed in July of last year for a second season.

In the season one conclusion, Courtney and her freshly reformed JSA foiled the Injustice Society of America’s evil objectives, killing its leader, Icicle, in the process. While a new teaser for Stargirl season 2 hints that Courtney’s friends think their crime-fighting days are behind, a series of new threats are set to prove them incorrect.
When Meg Delacy’s character Shiv discovered a mystery gem and exclaimed, “I see you, Eclipso,” it was one of the key storey lines left over from last year’s finale. The diamond in question is actually the Heart of Darkness, a well-known relic in DC Comics history.
The CW has already given fans a preview of Eclipso’s design for the upcoming season, and this Stargirl season 2 poster underscores how essential his role will be in the future. The design of the poster, which features Stargirl’s Cosmic Staff and Eclipso’s Heart of Darkness, hints that the season’s primary battle will most likely be between those two characters. As if that wasn’t enough, Eclipso and The Shade aren’t the only new characters in Stargirl season 2. Not only is John Wesley Shipp scheduled to reprise his role as Jay Garrick, but his daughter, Jade, will also join the show’s growing cast of classic characters. Season 2 of Stargirl will launch on The CW on August 10.
