WWE Women’s Tag Titles Match And Edge Match Set For 9/12 Raw

The WWE Raw card for next week’s show at the Moda Center in Portland, OR, is taking shape. Aside from Johnny Gargano’s return to the ring, the show will feature a rematch of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles final between Raquel Rodriguez and Aliyah and DAMAGE CTRL’s Dakota Kai and IYO SKY. The title match came about after DAMAGE CTRL cut a promo in the circle this week, with Kai trying to point out that she was not the legal contender when Alyah started rolling her up for the pinfall victory, calling Raquel and Aliyah’s legitimacy into question.

Raquel and Aliyah had earlier beaten Nikki A.S.H. and Doudrop in a non-title match earlier in the night. Also declared for the show is a singles match between WWE Hall of Famer Edge and Judgment Day’s Dominik Mysterio. Edge’s health is in doubt after he was ambushed by Damian Priest and Finn Balor this week’s show, which has been followed by Edge selling a knee injury caused by a steel chair attack.

Later on the show, after Rey Mysterio was defeated by Priest, Ripley vowed to put an end to Edge’s career by scheduling a match between Dominik and Edge for the following week. Edge is recognised to work a limited schedule, so it’s possible WWE will use next week’s fight to write him off TV. Dominik will also be making his debut as a member of The Judgment Day in this match.

The WWE Raw lineup for next week can be found below.

Raquel Rodriguez & Aliyah (c) vs. DAMAGE CTRL – WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship Match (Dakota Kai & IYO SKY)

– This is Johnny Gargano’s first fight in nearly nine months.

– Edge vs. Dominik Mysterio

Edge has announced his intention to retire after WWE’s next tournament in Toronto in August. Edge expressed his desire to return to Toronto one last time. According to the calendar, we usually visit Toronto in August. So, next August, I promise to see each of you again. In an ideal world, we would all say our goodbyes that night. It’s all right, man. This is where I’m going to retire. I truly mean it when I say I love you all, and in case you forgot it, I absolutely adore being Canadian!

Edge, a Toronto Maple Leafs fan, ended his emotional speech by starting a Go Leafs! chant. Edge is not planned to wrestle a fight at the forthcoming Clash at the Castle. However, the events following his victory over Priest his woman Beth Phoenix rescuing him from a Judgment Day beatdown appeared to imply that the rivalry among Edge and Finn Balor’s stable would then continue into the festival in Cardiff, Wales.
