On the December 30 episode of WWE SmackDown in Tampa, Florida, John Cena & Kevin Owens will face Roman Reigns & Sami Zayn of The Bloodline in a match that will be of epic proportions for WWE in 2022. The contest was set up in the closing moments of the 12/16 WWE SmackDown, when Reigns revealed that he and Zayn would compete against Owens and an unidentified partner at WWE’s final event of 2022.
Cena abruptly made an appearance on the TitanTron to read a text message that Owens had sent to him. Surprise! Through a satellite, Cena addressed The Bloodline. You must be a little taken aback to see me. Since everyone enjoys a good holiday surprise during this time of year, you can imagine how surprised I was to receive a text message from my longtime friend Kevin Owens.
“Sup, Peacemaker,” he said. Did you know that, aside from this year, you’ve had a WWE match every year for the past 20 years? Your winning streak is about to end. Amazing emoji. Do you want to join me on December 30 in Tampa, Florida as my tag team partner? ” Cena went on: “So let me get this straight: I haven’t played in 2022, and our window of opportunity is closing.
And you’re asking me if I want to team up with Kevin Owens to compete against The Tribal Chief and Sami Zayn in the must-see main event match? Yes, I’ll be there for sure! Absolutely, during the final SmackDown of 2022, we’ll bring the fight to The Bloodline. Make a list and double-check it because The Bloodline has been bad, and won’t it be nice when Cena-clause arrives?
Holy S**t, ho ho ho!” Reigns and The Bloodline were furious in the ring as the show ended as they responded to Cena’s announcement. On September 10, 2021, Cena competed in his final WWE dark match at Madison Square Garden, joining forces with Rey and Dominik Mysterio to take on Roman Reigns and The Usos in a six-man contest. He had previously fallen to Reigns in a SummerSlam match on August 21, 2021.
