What Happened to Manifest After Season 3 (And Will Netflix Save It?)

NBC has cancelled Manifest after three seasons, but many fans are optimistic that the show will be revived. In June 2021, the show’s third season finale broadcast, and it ended on two game-changing cliffhangers that would have altered the lives of the main characters. The show, however, was cancelled just a few days later.

When Manifest initially debuted on NBC in 2018, it was viewed as a fresh spin on the Lost formula, which was a huge smash in the early 2000s. The series followed the passengers of a commercial plane that returned suddenly after a five-year absence, with everyone on board unknowing of what had done and unaffected by the flow of time.

Manifest, like ABC’s Lost, had several mysteries at its centre, as well as a diverse cast of characters from all backgrounds drawn together by this tragedy. It all started with an aeroplane disappearance, but Ben, Michaela, and Saanvi’s investigations have since led to a slew of new problems.

NBC may have moved on from Manifest, but it could be that the show will find new life somewhere else – specifically, Netflix. Manifest rocketed to the top of the Netflix charts just days after its first two seasons were released on the streaming platform on June 10, 2021, and stayed there for several days.

Given this fact, it’s possible that Netflix will be impressed enough by the numbers to take a chance on it and pick up the show for season 4. If its release on Netflix is generating new levels of interest in the show, that may just be what happens. After all, it wouldn’t be the first time that Netflix saved a cancelled series.

Netflix may be the only way for fans to find out what happens to Ben, Michaela, Saanvi, Vance (Daryl Edwards), Zeke (Matt Long), and the rest of the cast. The death of Grace (Athena Karnanis) in the Manifest season 3 finale will undoubtedly have a significant impact on Ben and the rest of the family, so it would be a shame if the implications of this, as well as Cal (Jack Messina) mysteriously aged up five years in the episode’s final scene, are never explored.
