Following his recent interview with Howard Stern, in which he attacked and degraded ex-wife Jennifer Garner; actor Ben Affleck was roundly chastised by fans on social media. Affleck recently appeared on SiriusXM’s ‘The Howard Stern Show,’; where he reunited with his ex-fiancee, Jennifer Lopez.
He blatantly blamed ex-wife Jennifer Garner for forcing him to drink while speaking up about his prior fight with alcoholism. “Part of why I started drinking was because I was trapped. We probably would’ve ended up at each other’s throats. I probably still would’ve been drinking,” Affleck reportedly admitted.
His comments sparked a lot of backlash from Garner’s followers; who quickly reminded Affleck that it was Garner who helped him get through three years of recovery; even after they divorced. Garner and Affleck married in 2005 and have three children: Violet, 16, Seraphina, 12, and Samuel, who is nine years old.
Ben Affleck made headlines earlier this year when he reconciled with his ex-girlfriend Jennifer Lopez; just after she divorced Alex Rodriguez. They are said to be going stronger than ever, with whispers of a potential wedding circulating. The public’s reaction to ‘Bennifer’ has been overwhelmingly positive, that is until Ben Affleck trashed Jennifer Garner in his most recent ‘tell-all’ interview.
In response to a question regarding his divorce, Affleck stated, “Everything you read [in the news about the divorce] was bulls–t. The truth was we took our time, we made our decision … We grew apart.”
“We had a marriage that didn’t work. This happens. She’s somebody I love and respect, but to whom I shouldn’t be married any longer. Ultimately, we tried, we tried, we tried because we had kids, but both of us felt like we didn’t want this to be the model that our kids see of marriage,” he added.
However, he did not stop here and continued, “I was like, ‘I can’t leave because of my kids, but I’m not happy, what do I do?’ And what I did was [I] drank a bottle of scotch and fell asleep on the couch, which turned out not to be the solution.”
