Bill Murray has announced his participation in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Murray is one of Hollywood’s most well-known actors; having been in a number of high-profile films such as Ghostbusters, Groundhog Day, and Lost in Translation, to mention a few.

He can presently be seen in Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch in cinemas; and he will return in Ghostbusters: Afterlife later this year.Bill Murray has dabbled in the world of franchise filmmaking before, with mixed success. On the set of Charlie’s Angels, he notoriously feuded with Lucy Liu; for which he was later cut from the sequel.

He has come to regret starring in the Garfield films; having only agreed to do so because he assumed the script was being written by one of the Coen Brothers. He did, however, feature in both Space Jam films and provided the voice of Baloo in the 2016 animated film The Jungle Book.

Both movies went on to be box office successes. However, Murray has never ventured into the world of superhero films, though this appears to be changing.Murray claimed that he has filmed a part in a Marvel picture in an interview with the German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine; as reported by The Cosmic Circus.

While he didn’t mention the film by name, he did mention Peyton Reed’s last film, Get It On; confirming that the Marvel film is Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Murray claims that he is uninterested in superhero movies and that his role will most likely be a one-off.

Murray stated in the interview, which was translated from German, that: “You know, recently I made a Marvel movie. I probably won’t tell you, but never mind. In any case, some people were quite surprised why I decided on such a project. But for me the thing was quite clear: I got to know the director – and really liked him very much. He was funny, humble, everything you want from a director.”

Bill added, “And with the cheerleader story ‘Bring It On – Girls United’ he made a movie years ago, which I think is damn good. So I agreed, although I’m not interested in these huge comic book adaptations as an actor otherwise…Let’s put it this way; the director is a good guy, and now I’ve at least tried out what it’s like to shoot a Marvel movie.”
