Was Charlotte Flair Needed At WrestleMania 35 Main Event?

Speculations about the bad blood between Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch have been gaining a lot of attention since late 2021. The two WWE stars got into a fight after the post-Crown Jewel episode of Friday Night Smackdown taping. It didn’t get physical, but things weren’t good, either. The altercation was a result of a Championship Exchange segment between the two while originally the heat between the two started all the way back a few years ago.

Charlotte Flair threw the title instead of handing it over to Becky. The incident is supposed to have enraged Becky Lynch. This also included a set of incidents in 2019 where Charlotte Flair suddenly made her way to the first-ever All-Women WrestleMania main event match. After winning the Women’s Royal Rumble match a one on one between Becky and Ronda was expected.

Originally, that match was supposed to feature Becky Lynch challenging then Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey in a dream singles bout. But, suddenly WWE included then Smackdown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair in it to make it a Winners Take All bout. Many did feel that it was a stunt by the company to steal the thunder from The Man.

Ric Flair on Charlotte Flair’s involvement in WrestleMania 35 main event

Ric Flair on his latest episode of his weekly ‘Wooooo Nation Uncensored’ podcast, claimed that both Becky Lynch and Ronda Rousey needed his daughter Charlotte Flair in that match so that it could become a legit main-event for WrestleMania 35.

“Ronda Rousey was always in the ring with pros. In fact, I believe one of the main reasons that Ashley was able to be in that match is that they needed the best worker in the business to be in that match to make sure it was the main event. And by the best worker in the business I mean Charlotte,” the Nature Boy mentioned.

WrestleMania 35 in 2019 was the first-ever WrestleMania in history to feature a women’s match in the main event. Becky Lynch won that Triple Threat Match by pinning Ronda Rousey, who hasn’t appeared on WWE TV ever since that loss. Charlotte Flair remained protected as she wasn’t involved in the pinfall sequence.

What are they doing at WrestleMania 38?

Charlotte Flair is currently slated for another main event at WrestleMania as she defends her Smackdown Women’s Championship against Ronda Rousey in a singles contest. This one is the headliner for the Night One of the show. Ronda Rousey challenged Charlotte Flair after winning this year’s Women’s Royal Rumble. Fans expected Ronda would go on to challenge Becky Lynch but she ha challenged Charlotte.

Becky Lynch on the other hand is set to defend her Raw Women’s Championship against Bianca Belair. Bianca Belair won this year’s Women’s Elimination Chamber match held at Saudi Arabia. By winning the match she earned her opportunity for the Raw Women’s Championship.
