Trailer, Cast, and Release Date for The Croods: Family Tree Spinoff Series

With the release of a new trailer, DreamWorks Animation has revealed the cast and release date of their upcoming The Croods: Family Tree spinoff series. The Croods: A New Age is the inspiration for the new series, which will air on Hulu and Peacock later this year. A New Age was a direct sequel to the first animated feature The Croods, which was released in 2013 and created a whole series.

While critics gave The Croods mixed reviews, it still managed to gross over $587 million worldwide, making it the second highest-grossing DreamWorks Animation film behind Kung Fu Panda. The company went on to make the Netflix television series Dawn of the Croods, which premiered on December 24, 2015 and ran for four seasons, based on the success of the film.

The Croods: A New Age, a sequel film, was released on November 25, 2020, with a total box office gross of nearly $215 million, despite the coronavirus pandemic limiting its reception. DreamWorks appears to be giving the franchise a second chance.

While both films in the series failed to impress critics, they did well at the box office, indicating a loyal following. Despite earning substantially less money due to the coronavirus outbreak, The Croods: A New Age managed to gross over $1.85 million on its debut day in the United States from just 2,211 screens.

However, without the original voice cast’s star power, it will be fascinating to see if The Croods: Family Tree is as popular with the franchise’s fans.
