Thor: Love & Thunder Almost Crosses The Mark Of $143M At Box Office Domestically

The God of Thunder is breaking records of its previous movie in theatres even after getting mixed reviews from the critics.

On its very first weekend, it collected a total of $143 million at the Box office of North American Markets. Whereas talking about past Thor films their box office collections of opening weekends domestically are as follows: Thor earned an amount of $65M, Thor the dark world $85.7M, and Thor Ragnarok $122.7M.

This year’s most awaited movie Dr. Strange In the Multiverse of Madness earned a total amount of $185M at the Box office which is more than that of Thor: Love & Thunder. Globally the collection of Thor amounts to $302M.

Spiderman No Way Home still remains on top marvel films as it had an opening collection of $260M+, it was the biggest opening after Avengers: Endgame.

Thor: Love & Thunder may not have surpassed its own studio’s movie Dr. Strange 2 but has conquered Minions – The Rise of Gru as its opening box office record was $125.1M.

Thor is indeed lucky as he is the first Avenger to get a fourth film which is directed by Taika Waititi who was also the director of Thor Ragnarok. The past three films have showcased the journey of Thor right from his origin to how he became the God of Thunder & later on joined the Avengers in every battle. This movie is completely different from the ones we saw in the past. It’s also the second shortest movie after Antman & The Wasp with a runtime of 1 hour 59 minutes.

In one of the interviews with entertainment weekly Taika Waititi the director of Thor love & thunder talked about the film he said,”  “It’s not a serious film, and it’s not a drama, but we do deal with ideas that I think a lot of humans deal with — universal themes about love and loss and our place in the world. Everyone sort of asks this question in the film: What is your purpose? What is the reason that you’re a hero, and what do you do when you have these powers? It’s sort of like a midlife crisis film, really.”
