The Witcher season 2’s “monster mash” finale is featured in a new behind-the-scenes film. Season 2 of The Witcher was released in December and has been a big success for Netflix, with 404 million hours of viewing time on the platform so far. A third season has already been ordered, with The Witcher: Blood Origin, a spinoff prequel series, planned to premiere in 2022.
The Witcher is based on Andrzej Sapkowski’s fantasy novels, which began as a book of short stories. It follows a Witcher named Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill), who is fated to become the mentor and defender of Princess Ciri of Cintra (Freya Allan) in a fantasy world full of magic, creatures, political upheaval, and blood fights galore. The Witcher was first adapted in Poland in 2002 as The Hexer, a 13-episode television series.
The Witcher season 2 conclusion is highlighted in a new Netflix behind-the-scenes film, which shows Cavill’s Geralt, along with his fellow Witcher’s at their keep, Kaer Morhen, fighting off a possessed Ciri. Ciri summons a trio of basilisks to fight The Witcher’s in the last scene, killing a number of them in a violent, bloody manner before being stopped by Geralt and his companions, as well as the witch Yennifer (Anya Chalotra). The video follows the cast and crew as they enjoy the process while overcoming the challenges of bringing the “monster mash” together.

Because The Witcher is based on the theme of monsters, there will be plenty to see and fight in season 2. The basilisk is well-known in the universe of The Witcher, having appeared in both the books and the games. They are known for their bird-like appearance and acid-for-blood, which is featured extensively in the final battle sequence, showing that the show has taken great care to faithfully adapt the species (along with the others that appear in season 2)
