Tessa Thompson Shares How Being An Open Bisexual Inspires Her Fans

Tessa Thompson who plays Valkyrie in Thor: Love and Thunder came out as Bisexual a few years back. In a recent conversation with the “Just for Variety” podcast, she discussed how her LGBTQ+ fans have followed her example since coming out as bisexual in a recent interview with the “Just for Variety” podcast.

In the conversation, she said, “That’s been tremendous”. Further adding she said that looking at how her fans get inspired by her looks like a dream.

Additionally, she also expressed her joy about playing the first LGBTQ+ superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, saying that “there is something powerful about seeing an image of yourself reflected in any way.” .

She says she feels glad to have experienced so much love from her fans and that her fans accept her for what she is. She also stated that she feels lucky to have been in a surrounding that respects her identity in both the professional world and personal life. She feels free to express her thought and extend her support to the LGBTQ+ community.

In a 2018 interview with Porter, Thompson declared that she had a “duty to talk about” her alleged romance with Janelle Monáe. I feel really lucky in the sense that I work in real close proximity to people that I think want to advocate for me to be myself and be the fullest expression of myself.” 

She also admitted that she was really glad to have played the role of Valkyrie who is also one of the characters belonging to the LGBTQ+ community in the MCU. Phase 4 of Marvel is introducing new characters in its projects and is also narrating the story of the past characters in a way never seen before.
