Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom have welcomed their first child together. The singer gave birth to her baby girl on Wednesday, who she shares with fiance, Orlando.
The news was first reported by UNICEF as they congratulated the couple. “Welcome to the world, Daisy Dove Bloom! We are honoured to introduce Goodwill Ambassadors @KatyPerry and Orlando Bloom’s new bundle of joy,” the organization wrote, alongside a photo of the new parents holding their baby’s tiny hand.
The couple also shared their own statements through UNICEF. They explained that they are floating with love and wonder from the safe and healthy arrival of their daughter. However, they also acknowledged that they are lucky and not everybody would be able to experience birthing as peaceful as theirs.
The couple further added that communities around the world are experiencing a shortage of healthcare workers. They stated that every eleven seconds, a pregnant woman or newborn dies, mostly from preventable causes. In their statement through UNICEF, they also added that many newborn lives are at risk because of the novel coronavirus pandemic. “As parents to a newborn, this breaks our hearts, as we empathize with struggling parents now more than ever,” the goodwill ambassadors shared.
Katy and Orlando also said, “We know UNICEF is there, on the ground, doing whatever it takes to make sure every expecting mother has access to a trained health worker and access to quality healthcare. “
The couple announced they will be setting up a donation page to celebrate their daughter, Daisy’s arrival. They further explained that by supporting them, people would be supporting a safe start to a new life. The couple concluded their statement, “We hope your ♥️ can bloom with generosity.”
Katy Reveals Pregnancy in Never Worn White
Orlando liked the post by UNICEF which included their statements and the representative for the couple also confirmed the good news. Orlando has a nine-year-old with ex-wife, Miranda Kerr. However, Daisy is the first child Katy and he shares together.
Katy had announced her pregnancy back in March as a surprise to all her fans with the release of her music video, ‘Never Worn White’. Talking about her pregnancy, the singer revealed in SiriusXM that it wasn’t on accident. She said at the time that she feels grateful for everything she has been able to achieve. Katy further added that she has tried to create this space in her own life for new things to come in.
The Fireworks singer said, ” I’m not running myself too ragged and like, you know, creating space for something new to happen like this. And I think we were both looking forward to this new interval of life and sharing this, so, that’s kind of how it happens, you know?”
Katy has been open about her pregnancy and given updates to her fans about the same. She said it hasn’t been bad but it has been a little lethargic. The singer added that she has been leaning in to gaining the weight and that she is comfortable with it. She joked, “I’m looking like Shrek a little bit and Orlando’s looking like the Hulk,” she cracked. “Orlando’s getting fit and I’m getting square. But, you know, it’s all worth it. I’m leaning into the COVID 30.”

Katy and Orlando Choose Jennifer Aniston as the Godmother
Katy says she wants her and Orlando’s child to grow up leaning into the “magic of life”. “I am just excited to be able to raise her in a different way than what I was raised and to let her think for herself and have a choice and discover and just lean into the magic in life and dress like whatever she wants to dress like for Halloween,” Perry explains.
The couple had revealed that they have chosen Jennifer Aniston to be their daughter’s godmother. A source confirmed saying Jennifer is pretty chuffed about it. They further said that Jennifer cried when she was asked to be the godmother to their impending baby.
The source revealed to The Sun that Jennifer was on the top of the list of potential godparents. Jennifer got emotional when they asked her to be the godparent. Jennifer has provided Katy with a ton of emotional support during her pregnancy. She has proven her dedication to the growing family.
An insider explained that Jennifer and Katy are very close. During this lockdown, they went for socially distanced walks. The friends have been spending a lot of time catching up. Jennifer has already experienced the joys of being a godparent before as she is the godmother of Courtney Cox’s daughter too.
Katy and Jennifer have had a collision in their romantic lives before. Jennifer briefly dated Katy’s ex-boyfriend, John Mayer. She dated him on-and-off from 2012 to 2015. Both Katy and Jennifer have been friends since decades.
However, Katy went on to meet Orlando Bloom at an after-party of Golden Globes 2016. They began dating shortly after that. The couple ended their relationship in 2017 but got back together in 2018.
On Valentine’s day of 2019, Orlando popped the question to Katy after an American Idol taping in Los Angeles. Katy is currently awaiting the release of her new album, Smile. She has given a lot of insight into her pregnancy while promoting her new album.
