Tamar Braxton’s Boyfriend Files for Domestic Violence Restraining Order After Her Suicide Attempt

Tamar Braxton’s boyfriend David Adefeso has reportedly filed a restraining order against the reality star. According to court records, David Adefeso filed for the restraining order against 43-year-old Braxton, citing domestic violence, at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse in Los Angeles.

We still don’t know as to what specifically prompted Adefeso’s filing. Especially since it was only last month, when Braxton credited him for saving her life after discovering the latter in their home “lifeless.”

Braxton’s Suicide Attempt

On July 16, the Reality TV star was rushed to the hospital after she was found unresponsive in her room at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in downtown Los Angeles. She was found by none other than her boyfriend, Adefeso, who believed it to be a possible suicide attempt. He immediately called 911 and informed the police that Tamar had been drinking and had taken an unknown amount of prescription pills. A source at the time said that, “Finding Tamar like that has left him understandably concerned and shaken up.”

At the time, A LAPD spokesperson confirmed the news that they had received a call around 9:45pm on Thursday night. Reporting a female that had a medical emergency listed as a ‘possible overdose.’ According to reports, the ambulances arrived soon after and transferred the singer to a hospital facility in Los Angeles to receive more specialized mental health treatment from top specialists.

However, a source has now come forward saying that Adefeso is the aggressor and that the two got into a heated fight in a car as she was on her way to the mental health facility. The source also claims that Adefeso threatened to kill her and himself in a murder suicide.

“The pain that I have experienced over the past 11 years has slowly ate away at my spirit”

Soon after she was confirmed to be in a stable condition, Braxton broke her silence on July 30 and addressed the incident in a lengthy and emotional statement shared on Instagram. In the post, Braxton wrote of her experiences of over a decade in the entertainment industry that had pushed her to the brink and a suicide attempt.

First and foremost, Thank you. Thank you to each and every individual who has prayed for me, thought of me, sent me their love and has showered me with their support. In this present moment, it is my only responsibility to be real with myself and to be real with the ones who truly love me and care for my healing. I have without fail, shared with you my brightest days, and I know that sharing with you what has been my darkest will be the light for any man or woman who is feeling the same defeat I felt just only a week ago.  Every one of us has a desire, whether small or big, to make it out of where we come from to an ideal future place that includes, freedom to be who we choose, security for our children and families, and fortune to share with the ones we love. We believe these things can co-exist with just being happy. I believed that, that as a black woman, as an artist, an influence, a personality I could shape my world, and with whom I believed to be my partners, they could help me share my world. Over the past 11 years there were promises made to protect and portray my story, with the authenticity and honesty I gave. I was betrayed, taken advantage of, overworked, and underpaid. I wrote a letter over 2 months ago asking to be freed from what I believed was excessive and unfair. I explained in personal detail the demise I was experiencing. My cry for help went totally ignored. However the demands persisted. It was my spirit, and my soul that was tainted the most. There are a few things I count on most to be, a good mother, a good daughter, a good partner, a good sister, and a good person. Who I was, begun to mean little to nothing, because it would only be how I was portrayed on television that would matter. It was witnessing the slow death of the woman I became, that discouraged my will to fight. I felt like I was no longer living, I was existing for the purpose of a corporations gain and ratings, and that killed me. Mental illness is real. We have to normalize acknowledging it and stop associating it with shame and humiliation. The pain that I have experienced over the past 11 years has slowly ate away at my spirit and my mental. “Who I was, begun to mean little to nothing, because it would only be how I was portrayed on television that would matter. It was witnessing the slow death of the woman I became, that discouraged my will to fight,” Braxton said in a lengthy and raw statement. “The pain that I have experienced over the past 11 years has slowly ate away at my spirit and my mental.”

The Braxton Family Values star said she is now learning to “grow through” her pain “instead of looking for an escape” and will be seeking treatment to be the best mother to her son.

“I’m on an irreversible path to healing, I am taking my time. It is of the utmost importance that I find my happiness and my health, through professional treatment, for the sake of my whole heart, Logan, who I forgot in my moment of distress and desperation.” Braxton wrote.

“I’m sure finding me the way that you did couldn’t have been easy”

Just last month, Braxton penned a note of gratitude, publicly thanking Adefeso on Instagram for saving her life after her suicide attempt.

“If you have ever been in recovery or treatment you know that you reflect on a lot of things. So I couldn’t let another day, another second go by without PUBLICLY Thanking my Love @david.adefeso for saving my life.”

“I’m so grateful,” Braxton continued. “I was in our home lifeless???????? & I’m sure finding me the way that you did couldn’t have been easy,” she wrote in the since-deleted post. “But know that people coming at you saying all this crazy stuff, isn’t easy for me. People have called you every name in the book, to deflect from what’s really been going on. Through this entire time, you have held my hand, heard my cries, held me when I have been weak. You have had my ENTIRE back‼️”

“I will not allow anyone to call you controlling or ‘that’s that African man’???‍♀️? like I don’t have a mind of my own? cause without THIS African man, I simply would not be here.” Braxton even added that Adefeso was “here for me when NOBODY was and still is.” Tamar’s post has since been deleted from her social media.

In a comment, Adefeso reiterated his love for Braxton and her 7-year-old son Logan, whom she shares with ex-husband Vincent Herbert. “I love you. You love me. We love Logan. Together forever,” he wrote, adding multiple heart emojis as well as a diamond ring.

“I will remain by her side”

In July, earlier this year, Adefeso had also spoken up about Braxton’s condition, explaining her struggle with depression.

“Tamar is a beautifully talented woman, a devoted mother, a loving girlfriend, a dear sister and a special friend to countless people. This is an extremely difficult time for Tamar and her family as she navigates professional and personal struggles including her battle with depression,” he said in a statement. “Tamar is currently receiving the best available medical attention to address those struggles and strengthen her mental health, and her family and I will remain by her side throughout her treatment. Mental health is a common issue, affecting 1 in 5 Americans. Please continue to send prayers and hope as Tamar continues the path to recovery and ultimate happiness. We ask to please respect Tamar’s privacy, and her family’s privacy, during this important time of healing.”
