Spider-Man Eats Shrek’s Gingerbread Man in Bizarre Crossover Video

Spider-Man Eats Shrek’s Gingerbread Man in Bizarre Crossover Video

During the holiday season, a weird video showing Spider-Man eating the Shrek gingerbread man went viral. With the recent release of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Spider-Man is on a roll. The new picture, which is about to surpass the $1.5 billion mark, is certainly the most successful of the epidemic era.

Another remarkable accomplishment is that No Way Home already accounts for 12% of the box office in 2021. The franchise is generating a lot of buzz on social media, with fans demanding additional Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield flicks after the two previous Spider-Men joined the MCU in No Way Home.

Between 2001 and 2010, the Shrek franchise produced a number of extremely entertaining and commercially successful films. Since then, the ogre and his companions have gained a following on social media. Shrek trended on Twitter for the 20th anniversary of the original film in May, demonstrating that the film is still popular after all these years.

The franchise is supposed to be a spoof of classic fairy tales, and there has already been a slew of memes parodying the movie. The gingerbread guy was a memorable character in the flicks and has appeared in a number of memes. Jokari P, a Spider-Man fan, submitted a YouTube video last week depicting Maguire’s Spider-Man eating the Shrek gingerbread man. It all starts with a famous scene from Spider-Man 2 from 2002, in which Peter is shown swinging into his New York City apartment and then removing his mask.

Spider-Man appears in Shrek Realm

The camera shifts to show his family and friends arriving to see what all the fuss was about, but instead of seeing Peter, they witness a portal closing, similar to those seen in recent Marvel flicks. The film switches to Lord Farquaad insulting the gingerbread man in his castle, followed by Peter eating the treasured cookie outside the castle. Check out the video in its entirety below:

In this video, Spider-Man appears in the Shrek realm rather than the Tom Holland Spider-Man universe, like in the well-known crossover surprise in No Way Home. Doctor Strange seemed to have made even more mistakes with the spell to make the world forget Peter was Spider-Man in this spoof than he did in the genuine film. Although there appears to be no clear reason why Maguire’s Spider-Man should emerge in the Shrek universe of all places, given today’s meme culture, the audience will most certainly accept it and be entertained.

Aside from the fact that Spider-Man now has magic in his movies thanks to the presence of Doctor Strange, the two franchises have a few parallels. Shrek is set in a fairy tale world, whereas Spider-Man is meant to be relatable in ways that an ogre who marries a princess cannot be, and the conflict between the franchises added to the fun of the parody video. This video was a fantastic way to commemorate the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home while also reminding viewers how much they adored the Shrek films.
