Shahid Kapoor’s parents Neelima Azeem and Pankaj Kapur had separated when the actor was just three and a half years old!
Neelima Azeem and Pankaj Kapur decided to part ways when the actor Shahid Kapoor was just three and a half years old. The former had looked after Shahid alone as a single parent. Now she has opened up on her divorce with her husband.
Talking to Pinkvilla, she said, “I would like to say that I didn’t decide to separate. It’s a fact. He moved on and it was a difficult thing for me to stomach but he also had his reasons. We had been friends from a long time. I think I was 15 years old when I became friends with him. He had very good reasons and I understood it.”
She added on saying, “When there’s a break-up, which is called divorce, it is painful for both. There was a lot of friendship and attachment but there was heartbreak. It’s alright. He’s very well settled with his family today and I wish him well.”
Neelima also talked about how Shahid had been her source of strength. He gave her an insurmountable belief in life. She said that it took her a couple of years, but then she was fine.
After separating with Pankaj Kapur, Neelima was married to Rajesh Khattar and later to Ustad Raza Ali Khan as well. However, both the marriages couldn’t work.
