Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler vying for the Women’s Tag Team Championships has just been revealed as one of the five matchups for WWE WrestleMania 39. But, according to Dave Meltzer on the most recent episode of “Wrestling Observer Radio,” that wasn’t the former UFC star’s original idea.
Rousey and Raquel Rodriguez were supposed to face off for the “SmackDown” Women’s Championship on the “Grandest Stage of Them All,” according to WWE. But when Charlotte Flair returned to in-ring action, the organization decided at the last minute to give her the title. It is already official that “The Queen” will defend her title against Rhea Ripley, who won the women’s Royal Rumble competition in 2023.
WrestleMania 39
This took place after Rousey made the decision to run in a tag team with her friend Baszler, who is a real-life person, and it is anticipated that this will be her strategy when she returns to television. Because WWE had taken advantage of the couple’s friendship during Rousey’s most recent reign as “SmackDown” Women’s champion, they are now going to be an official team.
Rodriguez will undoubtedly compete in the upcoming women’s Elimination Chamber match, but it is not yet known if she will still play a prominent role at WrestleMania. At WrestleMania 39, the victor will compete against Bianca Belair for the “Raw” Women’s Championship.
Rodriguez Challenged Rousey
After a seven-month absence, The Queen made a comeback and demanded a shot at the championship after Ronda Rousey defeated Raquel Rodriguez in SmackDown 2022’s final episode. That might have best described her year, which was less memorable than her first assignment. However, Rousey teased joining forces with her ally and friend Shayna Baszler to compete for the Women’s Tag Team Championship after dropping the crown.
A target is always on your back when you’re the champion, and Ronda Rousey is currently serving her second reign as the WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion. On the December 23 episode of SmackDown, Raquel Rodriguez finally defeated former women’s champion, Liv Morgan, to win a Gauntlet Match. She will be the next to take on Rousey for the title as a result of her victory. The earlier 2022 that Rodriguez challenged Rousey, the more successful Rousey was.
