Just hours before they were scheduled to perform, The Red Hot Chili Peppers canceled their Glasgow concert due to “illness.” The rockers announced the cancellation on social media and pledged to reschedule, but they provided no other information on what was wrong with the band.
They announced via social media that they will not be able to play in Glasgow due to sickness and would reschedule the concert. “Pls hold onto your tickets and wait for an update soon. RHCP love Scotland and are deeply disappointed not to be able to perform the show…Thank you for your understanding. (sic)”.
The band has not performed in Glasgow since 2016, and the event was scheduled to take place in Bellahouston Park. Recently, they performed for sold-out audiences in Manchester, London, and Dublin.
The concert’s cancellation follows another recent tour disaster.
On one of the band’s tour dates, A$AP Rocky was supposed to be the support act, but because of his tardiness, the band had to go on stage first. At the Manchester’s Emirates Old Trafford event, the 33-year-old rapper was scheduled to come after the opening act, Thundercat. But because he was so far behind schedule, frontman Anthony Kiedis and the rest of the band had to take his place.
To the surprise of RHCP fans, it resulted in the unprecedented situation where ASAP Rocky ended up being the main attraction.
What Was the Fans’ Reaction?
A fan wrote on Twitter: ‘Been going to gigs for 30 odd years and never seen anything like it. Many disappointed fans. Bizarre end to the night.’
Another mocked, ‘Do u think asap rocky didn’t wanna play manchester bc he’s still upset that liam gallagher called him whatsapp ricky.’
One more posted: ‘Watching the place empty when he came on was super awkward, can’t believe I spent £90.’
