Paris Hilton Opened Up About 5 Of Her Physically Abusive Ex-Boyfriends: ‘I Was Strangled, I Was Hit’
Ahead of the September 14 premiere of her YouTube documentary, This Is Paris, popular socialite, Paris Hilton opened up about her abusive past relationships. And how it impacted her relationships and love life.
“I put up with things no one should”
The Simple Life actress recalled the multiple toxic relationships she had with boyfriends who were physically abusive to her. “I went through multiple abusive relationships,” the entrepreneur and former reality star revealed. “I was strangled, I was hit, I was grabbed aggressively, I put up with things no one should.”
“They wanted to instill fear in the kids so we’d be too scared to disobey them”
Paris’ recent revelations come just after the heiress recently opened up about the physical and emotional abuse she endured as a teen while attending Provo Canyon boarding school, Utah, in the late 1990’s. Paris recently claimed she endured emotional abuse at the hands of the school during the 11 months she attended. Which was ironically intended to focus on her mental and behavioral development.
“From the moment I woke up until I went to bed, it was all day screaming in my face, yelling at me, continuous torture,” Hilton had admitted. “The staff would say terrible things. They were constantly making me feel bad about myself and would bully me. I think it was their goal to break us down. And they were physically abusive, hitting and strangling us. They wanted to instill fear in the kids so we’d be too scared to disobey them.”
Normalizing the Abusive Behaviour
What’s sadder, is that Hilton’s parents, Rick and Kathy Hilton were in the dark about her situation. “I didn’t really get to speak to my family,” says Hilton, “maybe once every two or three months. We were cut off from the outside world. And when I tried to tell them once, I got in so much trouble I was scared to say it again”
In a heartbreaking confession, Hilton believed that she was set up for a future of abusive relationships, after the horrifying experience she had at the boarding school as a mere teenager. Before she knew it, Paris eventually began to normalize the behaviour.
“I had become so used to [abusive behavior] at Provo, that it made me feel like it was normal,” Hilton continued.
“They all seemed like such nice guys and then the true colors would show”
Paris confessed that she was abused by five of her exes, who were all sweet and kind to her in the beginning of their relationship before things took a turn for the worst. “They all seemed like such nice guys and then the true colors would show. They’d get jealous, or defensive or try to control me. And there would come a point where they would become physically, verbally and emotionally abusive.”
Paris, being naive, was initially under the impression that their ‘crazy’ behavior was simply an indicator of just how much they loved her. “I didn’t really understand what love or relationships were,” she added. “I thought that them getting so crazy meant that they were in love with me. Looking back, I can’t believe I let people treat me like that.”
“I met the worst person I could meet”
In 2003, Paris found herself in the middle of an infamous scandal, where her sex tape was leaked to the public. Paris however believes that the tape would never have happened in the first place, had she not attended Provo.
‘I would never have let anyone into my life like [the man in the tape, whom she was dating at the time]. I met the worst person I could meet. If I hadn’t gone to Provo, I wouldn’t have entertained the thought of letting him into my life. Provo affected my future relationships.’ She said admitting that her scarring experience completely skewed her understanding of love and relationships.
“I’m so grateful to have found my perfect match”
In happier news, Hilton is currently dating 39-year-old entrepreneur and her boyfriend of nine months, Carter Reum. The best part? they share a healthy relationship. “I feel so safe with him,” she gushed. “Before, I don’t think I was really ready for a good relationship. But I’ve learned so much. And I’m so grateful to have found my perfect match.” The happy couple recently celebrated their anniversary on August 30.
Fans will get to know and connect with Paris on a more personal level through her documentary. Which will touch upon similar topics and much more. This Is Paris, is all set to premiere on Hilton’s YouTube channel on September 14.
