With the starting tip, the Mavericks opened the game with an alley-opp pass from Doncic to Powell. That opening 2 points created such a strong impact for the Mavericks that they went with their attack. Once the 3rd quarter started, the Jazz was tightening the defense to not allow the Mavericks to do whatever they want. Plus the Jazz tried to take quality shots and were passing to Gobert who was making the basket efficiently.
But the Mavericks were no longer a team with just role players. They have their alpha in Luka Doncic. He proceeded to light up the arena with his array of shots to which the jazz couldn’t respond. He attacked the rim, made three 3s and drew fouls.
The Jazz continued to fall behind and the lead had grown to 30 points. Sensing that victory is at their hands, the Mavericks put all their effort on the defense and made steady shots on the other hand. The lead was too big for the Jazz and they fell to Mavericks.

Takeaways from Game 5
The Dallas Mavericks annihilated the Utah Jazz with a scoreline of 102-77. The Mavericks now lead the series 3-2 entering Game 6 which will be in Jazz’s territory. The Jazz need to fix their shooting issues as they were cold the entire game. Mitchell has to step up and he cannot have games like this in the playoffs with the series at stake. The next game he needs to bring out his A-game, else the Jazz will be out in the 1st round again.
