Justin Timberlake Opens Up About Teaching Son About Racism

On Father’s day, Justin Timberlake shared his joy on being a father to his son, Silas, in an Instagram post.

Justin shared never-before-seen images on his post. He talked about parent’s responsibility in teaching their kids about right and wrong. Especially when it comes to racism and equality.

He writes he thinks a lot about boys growing up to be fathers. Justin writes a lengthy caption on Instagram with the rare picures of him and his son.

He writes that he tries to teach his son to love and respect everyone. Justin goes on in his caption about teaching his son to not differentiate in terms of the colour of the skin. He tries to teach him that everyone is created equal.

‘We try to teach our son to love and to respect everyone — we teach him that all people are all created equal, and that no one should be treated differently because of the color of their skin.’

Justin explains that it is a cycle because Silas will one day teach his kids the same.

‘We teach him this because one day, he will go on to teach his kids the same. It’s a cycle,’ he explained.

Justin has been very vocal about his feelings amid the protests which happened after the killings of several African-Americans.

‘I pray for that humility with my own son’

He goes on to explain, as they are fighting discrimination because of colour, it is crucial to start the change from our own homes.

‘And right now, as we all work to undo generations of discrimination that have plagued our system and our communities across this country… I’m reminded today that the first lessons start at home.’

The singer continues to write how grateful he feels about having two dads on his life. He thanks his mother to teach him and to listen to him when he wanted to teach something.

‘I pray for that humility with my own son,’ he wrote. He then turned the attention to his wife Jessica Biel and their boy.

Justin mentions how grateful he is for his wife and his son. He concludes his message thanking all the dad around the world.

Justin writes, ‘While we owe our sons and daughters these lessons in the places where the doors close at night, I hope you are as inspired as I am to make them THE TRUTH in the places that same door opens every morning and we send them out to discover.’

He also says there is much more work to do and sends all his well wishes to the dads everywhere.

Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake tied the knot in 2012. Justin has won over 10 Grammy awards. He is considered the best songwriter with the best selling music.
