Jacob Tremblay played a younger version of Justin Bieber in his new music video, Lonely. It had the singer feeling emotional as the music video dropped on Thursday.
The I Don’t Care singer opened up about how difficult it was to record the song with Benny Blanco. He took to his social media and announced that the new music Lonely is out. The singer shared when Benny and Finneas showed him the song, it was hard for him to listen to.
In the video, Jacob was seen sporting Justin’s infamous side-swept hairstyle. He also wore the iconic purple hoodie. Benny also opened up about creating the song and he revealed that the singer was very nervous. He shared that the singer was questioning whether he should be putting this out in the world.
Benny further said, “He’s raw on this song. This song brought us so much closer together. And it was just he’s really opening up on this and he’s super vulnerable.” The musician added that at one point in our lives, all of us have played superman.
He explained, I’m sure you do for your family, for your friends, and everyone’s counting on you for so many things. You do a lot of stuff for a lot of people and sometimes you get f—ed up. I know for sure it doesn’t matter. You do. I do. We all do.”

Benny also questioned why should we always have to be this superhero. He explained, “Why can’t you be like one of your kids for a second and be like, ‘I don’t want to do. I just want to cry. I just want to be sad.’” The musician also said there is this stigma where men aren’t supposed to be this. However, he said men want to be vulnerable, cry and they want to have a good cry.
Benny has worked with Justin previously for his 2015 hit, Love Yourself from his Purpose album. Both the artists were Grammy-nominated for the same.
Justin said he felt emotional thinking about how hard it was for him to get through some of these chapters. He wrote, “I went into the studio and sang through it which wasn’t easy but started to really see the importance of telling this story! It made me realize we all feel lonely at times!”
The singer explained being someone in his position, he believed it is powerful to express vulnerability. He said that is why he believes the song is powerful and appreciated Jacob. The Yummy singer shared, “It was emotional to see him play me from the outside looking in.”
Justin is also set to perform as a musical guest on Saturday Night Live this weekend. The singer’s new song comes after the release of his recent song, Holy.
