Talk show host Jimmy Kimmel tested positive for Covid-19, as the host took to his social media account to share the update among his fans and followers. The host took to his Twitter account and tweeted, “Our daughter brought us Covid (even though we specifically asked her not to). All feeling fine, I am double vaxxed and boosted but the show must not go on.”
While Jimmy tested positive for Covid-19, fans will see Mike Birbiglia in the place of the host. Kimmel added to his tweet and said, by the time he returns Mike Birbiglia will step in for him to keep the show audience engaged, as a host. He further tweeted, “Apologies to @TomCruise & @iliza and thanks to Mike Birbiglia @birbigs who’ll be filling in for me starting tomorrow night.”
After this tweet, Mike Birbiglia replied with his own sweet tweet and wrote, “I must be the first person to ever deplane a Southwest Airlines flight and find out they’re guest-hosting a late-night talk show. Sending love to the Kimmels. See you on the TV tomorrow, friends.”
Several other late-night hosts also tested positive for Covid
The news of Jimmy Kimmel testing positive for Covid-19 came up after several other late-night hosts also tested positive for Covid-19. In recent months, Seth Myers, James Corden, and Jimmy Fallon have all tested positive. Recently in the last month, on 28th April “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” too cancelled several shows after Colbert also tested positive for Covid-19.
Whereas talking about the “Jimmy Kimmel Live”, the Wednesday’s night show will be hosted by Birbiglia, and the upcoming episode is all set to feature Ewan McGregor (“Obi-Wan Kenobi”) and Ben Schwartz (“Sonic the Hedgehog 2” and “The Afterparty”). Musical guest is The Head and the Heart.
Another turning point was seen recently when Corden announced that he will be leaving “The Late Late Show With James Corden” next year. The comic has been at the helm of the show since the year 2015.
