Jennifer Garner and businessman, John Miller have called it quits after almost two years of dating. John, who founded the tech company Cali Group in 2011, has not been seen with the 13 Going On 30 actress in almost a year.
“Jen’s focus still remains on her children and her career”
An Insider source revealed, “Jen and John called it quits several months ago. They’ve remained friends. They just started seeing less and less of each other and finally called it quits,” the source explained. “She has nothing negative to say about John. They just seemed to drift apart. Garner even went on to call Miller, ‘an amazing stepping stone in her life.’
The reports further revealed that the reason for their split might just have to do with commitment. “He was ready for marriage and she just couldn’t commit. They parted on very amicable terms.” The source added, “Jen’s focus still remains on her children, her career and spending time with those who make her really happy.”
News about the 48-year-old Golden globe winner dating the businessman, broke in October 2018, after Garner’s divorce from Ben Affleck. Jennifer’s divorce to Affleck was finalized in 2018, nearly three years after the couple separated and almost a decade into their marriage. Ben and Jen now share co-parenting responsibilities of their three children. Violet, 14, Seraphina, 11, and Samuel, 8.
How the couple met
Sources at the time revealed that Garner and Miller were introduced to each other by mutual friends in the summer of 2018 and reportedly ‘hit it off immediately.
“They went for romantic dinners far out of town or at his home,’ the source said. “He is warm, fun and incredibly smart. He is a real success in the business world and has no interest in being in the entertainment industry.” In these 2 years, the couple managed to keep their romance pretty low-key while they were together.
In January 2019, reports told the couple, who never spoke about each other publicly, had become more serious. “Jen feels so lucky to have met John and their relationship only continues to grow,” their source said. “They both wanted to take it slow, but it has gotten serious and they couldn’t be happier. John’s been at their Palisades house so much lately. They all [John, Jen and their kids] stay up late playing board games.”
“That will never change and that’s really what her life is about”
“Jen has something very different with John than she had with Ben,” the source continued. “She and John are both interested in living a healthy lifestyle, working out, and eating well, except for the occasional trip to Chick-fil-A! When they aren’t with the kids, they take time on their own seeing movies and having romantic dinners. They’ve already taken the kids to the mountains together, and Jen’s friends describe John as a mountain man. He loves to do outdoorsy things.”
The couple was seemingly still going strong in 2020 as Insiders noted that they were happily together in February. Pointing out that the mom of the three is “focused on her kids and prioritizes them.”
“That will never change and that’s really what her life is about. She’s busy with work and kids. There’s not a lot of time for an intense serious relationship. It is what it is for now. But if she can see John and it works, she’s very happy to do that. He makes her happy and her time with him is always well spent.”
Jennifer and Bradley’s Beach day out
The news of Jennifer and John’s split comes a day after the actress was spotted having a fun beach day with her good friend and former Alias co-star, Bradley Cooper. In the photos, Cooper can be seen lying out in orange shorts donning a man bun.
While Garner is dressed in a navy sweater, blue skirt, and white sneakers and the two were spotted smiling on the beach in Malibu, CA. Jennifer was seen making sandcastles with Cooper’s 3-year-old daughter, Lea De Seine, whom he shares with ex-girlfriend, Irina Shayk.
The pair have remained close friends since playing on-screen love interests, Will Tippin and Sydney Bristow, on the ABC TV show, Alias, from 2001 to 2006. “Jen and Bradley have been friends for years, ever since they worked together on Alias,” a source said. “Jen raves about what a wonderful friend Bradley has always been to her.”
Fun Interviews, Make-outs and relaxation techniques
The pair clearly had a great time working together and displayed their closeness when they were interviewed back in 2006 on Access Hollywood. The two were seen giggling and teasing each other throughout the interview. At one point Jennifer is seen pawing over Bradley and grabbing his fake mustache that she calls ‘very sexy… except it tickles my lips,’ which made the actor smile.
The interviewer quickly jumped in to confirm if that means the two characters ‘will be making out’ in the episode. However, Jennifer quipped back saying, ‘No, we’ve just been making out’ as she points to Bradley with a smirk. Game for a laugh, Bradley joined in the joke saying that their supposed ‘make out’ session was all part of a ‘relaxation’ technique that he learned.
Cooper and Garner’s former spouse, Affleck are also friends. In an interview with The New York Times in February, Affleck specifically thanked both Cooper and Robert Downey Jr. for helping him on his sobriety journey.
“The two communicate a lot and are good friends”
Though there’s no way to confirm whether the beach day for the two actors was a casual hang or something more intimate, both Cooper and Garner are currently single. Cooper’s previous relationship with model, Irina Shayk ended last summer. Much like Garner and Affleck, Cooper is actively co-parenting with his ex. The two have remained close while staying committed to raising their daughter together.
A source spoke about Cooper and Shayk, saying, “They have a good system in place for Lea and they take turns with her. They also come together as a family and do things when they can. The two communicate a lot and are good friends.”
