Is Jennie of BLACKPINK Going To Play An Asian Superhero In A Marvel TV Show?

Even just the sound of that is so exciting. People were in disbelief when the rumors of Jennie starring in HBO’s The Idol broke out. But that news turned out to be true, so maybe we will get lucky again.

As the studio moves through Phases 5 and 6, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is continually growing with upcoming releases like Avengers: Secret Wars and Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. As the franchise has developed, the MCU has grown to include a wide range of celebrities, including several well-known Asian actors like Simu Liu (Shang-Chi), Gemma Chan (Sersi), and Benedict Wong as the beloved Sorcerer Supreme Wong. Amazingly, it appears that BLACKPINK, a popular Korean girl group, is finally joining the mega-franchise as another Asian superstar.

A member of the beloved girl group BLACKPINK will join the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a Marvel movie or a Disney+ production, claims renowned Pop Culture insider ABTLABinsider. 

In addition, several other insiders and outlets have also hinted at the possibility. At first, it was rumored that Rosé of BLACKPINK will be the group member to join a marvel TV series. But now it appears Jennie is the one doing the TV show.

Fans believe that the rumor may be true after noticing that several actors who are associated with the MCU have recently started following Jennie on Instagram. The actors include Benedict Wong, who  known for his roles as Kublai Khan in Netflix’s Marco Polo, Bruce Ng in The Martian, and Wong in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since Doctor Strange, Chinese actress Fala Chen, who plays Li in Shang-Chi, and South Korean actress Claudia Kim who has appeared in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

What Role Will Jennie Play In What Series?

Jennie is rumored to be starring in ‘Team Agents Of Atlas’ The Agents of Atlas are a fictional superhero team appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics.

The role that Jennie is rumored to be playing is a perfect fit for her which makes the rumor all the more believable. Jennie is expected to be portraying an Asian superhero, who balances her life as a globally famous K-pop idol and a Super Hero saving the day from evil doers with her ice-manipulating powers.

According to the insider, the talks for this role between Jennie and marvel have been going on for almost a year now and Jennie is very likely to appear in the TV show.

Jennie is currently busy preparing to go on the BORN PINK world tour with her group BLACKPINK. She’s also making her debut as an actress in HBO’s The Idol, slated to air in November this year.
