Gwyneth Paltrow is recalling her past with Vogue’s Life in Looks. The actress looked back at her most iconic outfits and her equally iconic relationship with Brad Pitt.
She reflected on their outfits in the ‘90s by looking back at their photo from 1996. The formerly engaged couple was seen hand-in-hand in the photo as a young Gwyneth was wearing the uniform of the decade, that is, jeans and a leather jacket.
“I believe I was on set with Brad Pitt,” the actress and entrepreneur recounted. “He was so nice and we were a very ’90s couple. I know that the Calvin Klein leather jacket is one of my favorite pieces. I’ve always dressed in jeans and a white T-shirt.” The Goop founder further recalled a time when Brad visited her onset, for her first Vogue cover shoot.
They were together from 1994 to 1997 and were briefly engaged as well. Even if their engagement made multiple headlines, the outfit by Ralph Lauren which she wore to the 71st Academy Awards was one that made a statement. It was a bubblegum pink gown and it became so famous that it has its own Wikipedia page.
She looked back at the outfit as she discussed that the Ralph Lauren gown was the one she wore when she was nominated for an Oscar in 1999. The Marvel star had originally seen the pink taffeta skirt in a Ralph Lauren lookbook. She had called the designer to see if she could borrow it for the awards show. However, she got the custom and now infamous gown. “They made me this beautiful dress and I love it and I kept it and I have it,” Paltrow gushed.
Gwyneth recalled that after winning the Oscar for Best Actress for her role in Shakespeare in Love, her late father had gifted her the Harry Winston jewels she wore that night. “I had borrowed these Harry Winston earrings and necklace for the Oscars and after I won, my dad, as a present, surprised me with them,” she said, holding back tears. “Now, I’m gonna cry. So, that was very sweet.”
The Goop founder wore the jewelry during another very special moment of her life, her wedding to Brad Falchuk in 2018. She shared that she wore the earrings and necklace when she got married to Brad. This was her tribute to her dad and a way of keeping him there with them.
