Former WWE Star Interested In Reviving A Decades-Long Conflict With CM Punk

Samoa Joe, one of AEW’s most recent additions, lately discussed the idea of renewing his old rivalry with CM Punk.

Returning to 2004, Punk and Joe fought for ROH World Championship in a memorable trilogy. The two rivals fought back-to-back time-limit draws, with The Samoan Submission Machine defeating his biggest foe in their third match to end the fight.

Joe conveyed on his long-standing feuds in ROH with Punk and Bryan Danielson. The former NXT Champion stated that because he is now in the same locker room as his former rival, a rematch between them is possible:

I mean, undoubtedly, Punk and I have been avoiding this issue for a while, but I believe we can resolve it. We get down every time I step into the ring with Danielson. When you speak about guys I’ve did work with in Ring of Honor that I’m currently on the roster with in AEW and Ring of Honor, anyone of those guys come to mind. Joe stated that it is completely open.

Joe, on the other hand, has unresolved issues before he meets Punk. Since having joined the AEW and ROH rosters last month, the Samoan Submission Machine has been on a collision course with his former protege Jay Lethal. In addition, the veteran has won the ROH World Television Title. With Double or Nothing approaching, the two men could face off for gold on May 29.

This year, CM Punk will headline AEW Double or Nothing?

CM Punk has won the right to compete for the AEW World Championship after winning five consecutive singles matches since Revolution 2022.

AEW World Champion Hangman Adam Page will defend his title against The Straight Edge Superstar in the fourth instalment of Double or Nothing.

To promote their first-ever match on May 29, the two men recently cut strong-worded promos directed at each other. If Punk wins, he will put an end to Hangman’s six-month reign, which has included victories over Bryan Danielson and Adam Cole.
