Fans Furious By Selena Gomez’s Involvement In ‘Working Girl’. Here’s Why

All of us have those classic movies which are extremely special to us. Now, in the age of reboots, a classic movie is set to be rebooted at the 20th Century Studios. The production house is ready to revive the fan base for Working Girl.

As per reports by Deadline, the studio is jumping on board with the reboot of the 1980 classic movie, Working Girl. They are set to reprise the project with actress Selena Gomez, who will also be producing the project.

Ilana Pena is set to create a screenplay for the reboot and the movie will be premiering on Hulu globally. It is still unknown what the story of the reboot will revolve around as the studio is keeping the details under wraps.

The original classic featured Harrison Ford, Melanie Griffith, Sigourney Weaver, and Joan Cusack. It revolved around a secretary who steps in her boss’ shows while the actual boss has broken a leg. The original garnered $100 million and was one of the breakthroughs of that year.

It was also appreciated by the audience and critics alike. Not only that, the movie even earned six Oscar nominations including a Best Picture, Best Actress nomination and Supporting nominations.

After the huge success of Top Gun: Maverick, other studios are jumping on to do more reboots. Just like so, 20th Century has decided to do the same and thinks Selena would be perfect for this project.

However, as soon as this news surfaced online, fans went to Twitter to express their thoughts on the project. Many fans were concerned as to why the studios wanted to ruin a perfect classic movie by rebooting it. Others expressed their displeasure with the actress being cast and shared how they wished someone else would be doing it.

A fan urged to leave classic films alone and get some new ideas. Another user expressed that they love Selena on her show, Only Murders in the Building but asked her to not star in this.
