FACE, the debut solo album by BTS Jimin, has achieved another milestone in its impressive run. The album has surpassed 300 million streams on Spotify, making it the fastest K-pop soloist album to do so. FACE reached this feat in just 26 days since its release on March 24, breaking the previous record held by LALISA by BLACKPINK Lisa, which took 60 days to hit 300 million streams.
FACE is a pop, hip hop, and R&B album that showcases Jimin’s versatile vocal skills and personal style. The album was inspired by the emotional impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Jimin as a person and performer and addresses themes of loneliness, wrestling with oneself, and finding freedom. The album consists of five songs, all co-written by Jimin, and one instrumental. The lead single “Set Me Free Pt. 2” and its accompanying music video were released on March 17, while the second single “Like Crazy” and its music video premiered simultaneously with the album’s release.
The album has received critical acclaim and commercial success both domestically and internationally. In South Korea, FACE broke sales records on its opening day, selling over 1 million copies, and in its first week, surpassing 1.45 million sales, making Jimin the first solo artist in Hanteo Chart history to do so. The album also debuted at number one on the Circle Album Chart. In the US, FACE debuted at number two on the Billboard 200, becoming the highest-charting album by a South Korean solo artist in Billboard chart history. With his solo debut project, Jimin also became the first K-pop solo artist to reach number one on both Spotify Global Chart and Billboard Hot 100
Jimin has also been making waves in the fashion and beauty industry with his recent collaborations with Dior and Tiffany & Co. He was announced as Dior’s new global brand ambassador in January and as Tiffany & Co.’s house ambassador in March.
