Doctor Strange 2 is said to be undergoing significant reshoots

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is currently undergoing extensive reshoots, according to reports.

The film is a follow-up to Doctor Strange, which debuted Benedict Cumberbatch’s sorcerer Stephen Strange in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2016.

Despite the fact that he’s appeared in three other MCU productions since then, including the animated series What If? and the upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home, this will be his first solo adventure.

Doctor Strange 2 has had a rocky development process. Scott Derrickson, the original film’s director, was previously signed on but left out owing to creative differences in January 2020, and was replaced by Sam Raimi, whose Spider-Man flicks from the early 2000s will play a big role in No Way Home’s multiversal crossover.

Due to production delays, the film’s release date was pushed back to May 6, 2022, making it the first of the several MCU Phase 4 entries to do so.

According to THR, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is undergoing “significant” reshoots as well as the standard “additional photography” procedure. According to their sources, the production will film six days a week for at least six weeks, till the end of the year.

Cumberbatch, on the other hand, was recently scheduled for only two weeks of reshoots on Spider-Man: No Way Home. While insiders differed on whether this will result in significant changes to the film, the majority attributed the problem to the current series of pandemic-related delays that have afflicted all Marvel productions.

Doctor Strange 2 will follow Doctor Strange as he continues his research on the Time Stone until tampering from an old friend (possibly Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch) unleashes a new evil. Benedict Wong, Rachel McAdams, and Chiwetel Ejiofor, as well as newbie Xochitl Gomez, will all reprise their roles in Doctor Strange. The supernatural events of the Disney+ series WandaVision and Loki will be explicitly related in this film, with the exact plotline, likely linking to the multiversal mayhem unleashed in No Way Home.
