BLACKPINK ended 2022 as the most successful K-Pop act and began the new year with a blast and lots of promising stuff. On January 4, the group became the only group in the K-Pop industry to have a music video surpassing 2 BILLION views.
They achieved this with their song DDU-DU DDU-DU. The song in question was also the first K-Pop Group M/V to reach 1 Billion on YouTube. BLACKPINK also reached 2 Billion with their song How You Like That – which has two videos on YouTube each with more than a billion views. BLACKPINK is also on track to become the only K-Pop act to have two M/Vs with 2 Billion views each, as the M/V for Kill This Love inches closer to the mark.
BLACKPINK’s Exciting Schedule For 2023
As the group prepares for major events and releases, the new year is expected to be even larger for BLACKPINK. Jennie’s participation in HBO’s The Idol, which also stars The Weeknd and Lily Rose-Depp, has already been announced. Additionally, it has been revealed that BLACKPINK will perform at London’s Hyde Park. Additionally, YG Entertainment has made it official by stating that Jisoo would also make her solo debut in 2023.
A confirmation for both Coachella 2023 and The Town – Brazil is expected, but BLACKPINK is also reported to be on the lineups of both festivals. Additionally, it has been revealed that BLACKPINK will perform at the Gala des Pièces Jaunes benefit event in France.
BLACKPINK made their much-awaited comeback in August with their pre-release single titled Pink Venom. Later on, they debuted their second studio album with the title track “Shut Down”.
Both singles from Born Pink reached number one on the Billboard Global 200. Both singles also made history by becoming the only K-Pop/Korean songs to debut at #1 on Global Spotify (Daily) Chart. Shut Down became the first K-Pop song to reach #1 on Global Spotify Weekly Chart. Born Pink recorded 2.2 Million sales, becoming the best-selling album by a girl group in South Korea and the first to surpass two million sales.
