Claressa Shields, the undisputed women’s middleweight champion, is not a fan of Jake Paul. If their much-anticipated boxing match takes place, Shields wants former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva to knock out ‘The Problem Child.’
Paul has previously sparred with a great fighter in former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley, Shields acknowledges. The WBA, WBC, IBF, and WBO, on the other hand, stated that Silva is an MMA fighter who has successfully switched to boxing.
Hoping for a knockout win for ‘The Spider’, Shields recently told The Schmo:
I want Anderson Silva to knock out Jake Paul. That’s what I want. And I believe that he’s the guy to do it. I think that Paul has fought against Tyron Woodley, who’s a great guy, great MMA fighter but Silva is showing that he’s a really really good boxer even though he has an MMA background. So I would love to see Silva fight Paul. I think both guys are really enhancing their skills. I just don’t really like Jake Paul like that.
Claressa Shields made her professional MMA debut at PFL in June 2021, defeating Britney Elkin in the third round by TKO. Later that year, she was defeated in a split decision by Abigail Montes in her sophomore bout.
Since then, the 27-year-old has returned to pugilism, winning a decision over Ema Kozin in February at the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff, Wales.
For quite some time, Jake Paul and Anderson Silva have been discussing the possibility of a boxing battle. Following his recent victory over Bruno Machado, ‘The Spider’ seems to be open to the idea.
Paul, for one, was underwhelmed, suggesting that he could fight Silva and Floyd Mayweather on the same night.
Luiz Carlos Dorea, Silva’s longtime coach, feels Paul has no idea what he’s up against, having never faced a true attacker. Paul should be looking for an exhibition fight against the former UFC champion, according to Dorea, because ‘The Problem Child’ is sure to ‘pay dearly’ in an official fight.
