Chris Rock Turned Down Oscar 2023 Hosting Offer

Chris Rock won’t return to host 2023’s Oscars, even after getting an offer. He has also admitted that he did get an invite from the Academy Awards once again. Chris Rock hosted the Oscars in the year 2005, 2016 & 2022.

Chris Rock had a show at Arizona financial theatre, where he revealed that he won’t be going back to host followed by a reference joke. According to the Arizona Republic, The reference joke was about the murder trial of O.J Simpson which took place in 1995. He says that going back to the Academy Awards will be like asking Nicole Brown “to go back to the restaurant.”

In his show, fans were awaited to hear his opinion on Will Smith’s slap. Fans were even yelling saying “Talk About it.” He spoke about how the Oscar slap incident have caused him hurt. He also referenced this thing to Will Smith playing Mohammad Ali, which he won Oscar for..

Rock says, “He’s bigger than me.” This is a reference to Smith, who played the famous boxer Mohd Ali. Further the comedian adds, “The state of Nevada would not sanction a fight between me and Will Smith.”

Will Smith is already banned from attending Oscars for 10years. This happened when Will resigned from the Oscars publicly a week before.

Chris Rock did standup at the Fox Theater in Atlanta on 29th July as a part of his Ego Death World tour, he indirectly joked about Will Smith’s Apology.

He gave Will Smith a new nickname, as he addressed him saying “Suge Smith” which is a reference to Suge Knight the founder of Death Row Records. This label launched many big artists like Tupac Shakur, Snoop Dogg & Dr. Dre.

Addressing to Will Smith’s Apology indirectly he says, ” Everybody is trying to be a F**king victim. If everybody claims to be a victim, then nobody will hear the real victims. Even me getting smacked by Suge Smith… I went to work the next day I got kids.”

He added that anyone who said, ” words hurt has never been punched in the face.”
